Guys....SQUATS is the questions

I don't really like to do legs im about 6-3 185 and am not too small but could be way bigger. I am weak in the legs im the first to admit it...i' work legs occasionally but I was wondering would it be worth it to do free bar squats even with incredibly light weight i mean i could prolly put up 135 3 sets of 10...

The most basic tenet of weight lifting is Progressive Overload. If you are not demanding more out of your body (more weight or reps, less rest), then you are not improving. Starting out at 135 is fine, but always try to better your last effort.

Yep.

Start out light, and every squat workout, add 10 pounds, and get the same # of reps.

When that starts to get hard, start adding just 5 pounds every workout.

Focus on perfect form.

Sorry to say but if you don't like to go heavy with squats, Good luck trying to gain serious weight and size at that height. Compound movements SQUATS, DEADLIFTS , BENCHPRESS,AND OVERHEAD PRESSES are truly what make your body grow overall!!!

Work your legs....do squats!!!! I used to say I didn't want big legs but they kick ass!

Start out doing squats like you said...3 x 10....eventually you'll being be doing heavy squats cause you'll get hooked!

Dunk on me? What is this a basketball discussion board? You should learn to take your medicine! if you want advice ask, but your looking for an easy way to build your legs up, there is none! A.S or not, legs take serious intensity and heavy poundages to make them grow. Just trying to help "Big Guy"

Okay here's a question for you all...my last set of squats I can do 125 without losing form (I'm female so gimme a break about the poundage) but on lunge the last set I can do 100. Its been pointed out to me that I'm lunging about 80% of what I can squat. Am I not maxing out on squat or am I just strong on lunges? I'd like your opinions. BTW, I will be bumping up squat as much as I can on Fri (leg day) and keep good form...

Thanks!

It doesnt matter where you start. You can get a great workout. Use double progression and in a year youll be doing 225.

Ruckus you gotta start somewhere man.You are cheating yourself out of the single most important lift you can do.
Sky,I'd say you could squat more, just comparing what I do for squat and lunges and it's a huge difference.

"Squat or rot". Simple as that. Don't worry about not having a heavy squat right now, that will come. Don't get stuck in the number's game. Bust a ball.

You wont grow without free bar squats. They recruit alot of muscles and stabalizers you would not think of. Start to do them now all the time. Make sure it is ass to floor or not at all.

Double progression is like lifting 100 lbs. 10x. When you can lift it 12 you go up in weight. Then you will maybe justv get 8, but when you get 12 go up in 12 again. So you have gone up in reps and weight, but not at the same time.

I will be the first to say that I hate doing legs, and really hate doing squats, but they work. Try pyramiding up, that is what I do. For example, this is my squat routine:
135-15 reps
155-15 reps
185-12 reps
225-8-10 reps
245-6-8 reps
275-4-5 reps
I am relatively weak in the legs too, and I use to do exactly what you do, but you need to add more weight and pyramid or you can forget about your legs growing.
