well i think it's about that time again to report some more results. Last one i did was with some prohormones that i didn't gain a single pound but got unbelieveably strong.
Now i went from 200 to 232, just weighed myself today, from just eating more food. I'm sure my bodyfat is at 16% right now, it was 12 before, but it is true about food being the most anabolic substance. Even steroids aren't worth shit if you don't have sufficient calories or protein for that matter. But for all you guys just itching to get big, just eat like a friggin animal. Valdez posted a good story on this subject a week ago. I was one of those who underestimated what food was capable of. Especially Especially when you consume over 200grams of protein a day, that's when you could really start noticing stuff. i prefer 300g/day

I appreciate this post. I've started bulking and seriously eating like crazy about a week ago after reading that articles Valdez posted also."The Road Less Traveled". (Powerful message) Anyway, it's only been about 6 days since I started eating heavy but here's what's going on. First couple of days, nothing. Friday weighed in at 193 post workout, now today post workout 197. (both naked for absolute values).

Ironically, and I don't know if it's related, I started taking Zebutol on Friday afternoon, and today is Monday. Weight started going up on Saturday.

By the way, the Zeb seems to make me a little racey. The only active ingredient listed on the bottle is Suma Sterol Extract 10mg. It's supposed to increase protein synthesis and nitrogen retention and have an adaptogenic effect, which means faster recovery times. I'm not sure about that because I've been sore for three days after a sick workout on Friday and this morning.

Also, about the food, I'm a little concerned about rapid weight gain, because of my age (40) and past weight problem. I don't want to increase body fat levels too much because I will want to shred it again in the spring. Last week 10.5% bf. Should I be concerned about increased levels of bf? Other question I have is: Is it definitely necessary to gain weight and some fat in order for your muscles to grow? i.e. bench press gains etc.

Risky, in your post it shows you went up 32 pounds from just eating more food. Did your weights also go up substantially? How do you feel with your bf at 16%? Do you plan to shred in the spring, or just keep getting bigger? Just curious about your goals.

as far as strength goes, it really skyrocketed when i took this prohormone, i didn't gain weight on it though. My strength continued to climb with me gaining weight.
Let me put it to you real simply. If you're natural, and not using roids, it is extremely difficult to gain muscle without gaining some fat along the way. Some people can do it with gaining very little fat, but people like me with mesomorph type bodies gain more fat while bulking. What you could do is make sure you're eating clean food. Chicken, Tuna, Steaks with no fat, and maybe don't get too crazy with the carbs but make sure you eat b/w 200-300g of protein a day.
As far as your health, yes rapid weight gain puts added stress on your heart and on other organs as well. But if i do bulk i do it for 2 months, then really slowly start restricting calories, you'll see your body wants to get rid of some muscle and fat when you stop eating so much. So i gradually decrease calories very gradually. Then after a month i'll start running on empty stomach and get cut up.
Food is very anabolic and you can manipulate it to your convenience. Although my two months are up, i think i'm gonna aim for 240, today i'm at 235 so it'll just be another week or two to get to 240. Then when i cut up i'll have a lil more to work with and maybe a little more muscle to hold on to.
And yes that story Valdez posted the road less traveled is very inspiring,

Do you do cardio at all when you're bulking or do you avoid it all together. I'm a spinning instructor, therefore I still do two heavy cardio workouts per week for 45 minutes. This is down from 3 to 4 per week before. I think this has helped me to put on some "good" weight, but hopefully I'll still be able to stay fairly lean with the gains I'm making. So far, so good, bf still about 10.5%.

BTW, what will your bf be when you go into your cutting cycle? Do you try to get it into the single digits for shows or anything? How long are your cutting cycles? I like alot of the things you have to say about BB. Also, once you asked me to send in before and after pictures. I may still do that, I got a new digital camera. I just don't want to get flamed. You know how this board can be! Maybe I'll just e-mail them to you.

I have a question on this subject. I am 6'2 218 and about 18% bf. I have read that you need to eat alot of food to pack on the muscle. I have read tha tyou need to cut calories to lose bf. I am confused. I workout 3-4 times a week. I am sore most of the time after I workout but not too bad. I still have to work so I dont want to be too sore. What do I need to do to get rid of fat but put on some muscle at the same time. Is it possible to do both? I do cardio 4-5 times a week also. I have always had a weight problem so I am real careful about putting on anymore fat. Its too hard to take off. Thanks Rd

Make sure you're eating the right kinds of foods at the right times. I always suggest eating 6 small meals throughout the day. Meal replacement shakes are good for recovery and fill you up for a few hours. I always take one before and after workouts. If you're sore most of the time you may not be getting enough protein. Also, glutamine will help with soreness. Be sure you're not sitting down to 3 big meals per day, this will slow down your metabolism, because in between meals your body goes into starvation mode and stores fat and carbo's so you'll have them for energy later.

Drink lots of water, a gallon a day. Each meals should consist of protein carbo's and fat. With at least 2 servings of vegetables per day. Eat lean proteins, tuna, chicken, turkey, and lean steak. Always avoid saturated fats, they have no nutritional benefits, i.e. fried foods. Always opt for baked or grilled. Even items like chicken parmesan look innocent enough but they're not, because they're fried.

Cardio 4 - 5 times a week sounds good, but what intensity are you working at. You need to sweat excessively to burn fat. I say at least 30 - 45 minutes per session to lose weight and fat.

When I was on my way down from 242 to 186, I got up to 60 minutes on the elliptical trainer and burning about 1000 calories per session. I lost about 25 or so lbs. doing this. Then I graduated to spinning, 3 - 4 times a week for 45 minutes, and lost another 30 pounds, until I reached my bottom weight of 186. Then, I had to slow down cardio, and increase my weights to build more muscle because I had lost a little, but not much during this process. But I definitely looked shredded, due to the low bf count. Currently, I am at 197 10.5% bf, only 2 spinning sessions per week.

I can be done, but you have to be willing to work very hard. Continue with your weight training, and your muscles will become more defined due to the fat loss. Make sure your resistance training is intense. You will probably want to do it before your cardio or on separate days, so your weight training doesn't suffer. The more muscle you have the faster your metabolism is, and the more fat you'll burn. Some people think they can lose weight just by doing cardio, but they end up losing weight and having no definition, and they also tend to have sagging skin. You will have less of that with a good weight traing program. You will be surprised at 6'2" and 218, you don't have that far to go.

By the way, I don't know how old you are but age is no excuse. I started traing when I was 39, a little over a year ago, and I don't look like the same person. Stay focused on your goals, and never give up!

bro i say post the pic. the only way you'll get flamed is if you're an asshole to people here or somethin'. If you're 10%BF you're in damn good shape.
The dude with 18%BF bro i hear ya about the body fat thing. I was there before. Actually i think i was at 21% at one time. And it's like i said before it's extremely difficult to put on mass and cut at the same time, unless you use roids it's almost impossible not to gain some fat when bulking. My advice to you would be to get cut now, and then go bulk. You don't want to start bulking when your body fat level is high. Lean up a bit and then go for it, just do it gradually.
When i bulk i do cardio maybe 1 or 2 times a week maximum. Because i want to save as much energy and calories as i can. When i stop bulking i'll do cardio 3 times a week, then go up to 4 times a week right after a work out, or on an empty stomach.
The body adjusts pretty quickly to things, diet and ECA stacks for example. So you want to do things gradually. If you run 6 days a week starting now, when you hit your plateu what else are you going to do? It's better to start running 2 days a week, slwoly restrict calories, and slowly keep decreasing calories and gradually start doing more cardio. Then when you hit a plateu you can always do a little more, and then maybe go with an ECA stack or something later on. This way you keep the body changing. Diets work i think for 2 or 3 months then your body adjusts to it and you stop losing weight, plateu. You just don't want your body to adjust to your losing weight so you keep shedding fat or gaining muscle whatever your goal is.
