I was just getting rid of the turtle head pokin out me ars and I started thinking about my dearly departed maternal grandmother. She was born in 1899, just a little over a hundred years ago, here are some of the things she use to say to me before she passed away.

"We didn't even have toilet paper when I was a kid, we had the Sears Catalog, and sometimes we just had leaves."

"I use to have to go to an outhouse in the dead of winter and the seat would be frozen, so quite your whinning!"

"I use to make 10 cents a week allowance for my chores on the farm, and Cletus use to think that wern't enough and he'd though his dime in the creek every week."

"We use to have all the grades together in one big school room, why can't they do that anymore"

"I didn't even see a care till I was nye on 30 years old."

Do you think someday you will tell your grand children that you use to have to drive a car to work and they will say things, like.

What was driving?
Why did you go that far to work?
That was stupid! Grandma/pa!
They only paid you $85.50 an hour! That's cheap!

AACK!!!

and you could still hang the bad guys out in the middle of town instead of housing them for the next 60 years!

forget a hundred years ago...my mom grew up with no running water, no bathroom, house heated by a wood stove, a horse drawn wagon was their school bus....she got a scholarship (sp?) to McGill, and is now a self-made millionaire.

Talk about growing up in a feminist household! My brother and I have nothing but respect for her.
