I realize this is not the Training Board, but nobody ever replies there and it's pissing me off. So i'll ask you guys:

I was Squatting the other day and i was going pretty heavy and deep... and after a few reps at my max weight i started feeling this burn in my side (about an inch from my bellybutton and slightly lower). So i stopped my set and was like what the fuck was this? I asked this guy that works with me and he told me "hernia" or something, anyone share his opinion? Please tell me it's something else, make it up if you have to... i don't want no fucking hernia, besides i'm too young.

Hernia, or you are possibly not breathing correctly. When you get up near your max, and you are going low, you need to force your breath out hard as you stand up. I don't know if you have a hernia, but you are definately straining something. Be careful, and watch your form.

You may have pinched a nerve, which in most cases takes a few days to work itself out. If it were a hernia it would be localized more towards your spine than your side. I've slipped disc squatting before and it took about a week to get everything back together.

Dude, you are never too young for a hernia... It occurs when the muscle rips through the intestinal wall. It isn't life threatening, and can be corrected easily. It will keep you out for a while though.

YO Silvio, Do this.

Spread your legs to shoulder width,
stick your index finger in that spot between your sack and your leg. Turn your head to the left. Cough lightley, If you feel a pull, you have a hernia. If you don't feel a pull your fine and probably have a pinched nerve like thick says.

Don't do this in public because people just point and stare, at least that's my experience.

Nope no pull! Is this thing for real or are you just making me stick my hands in my pants for your own sick personal pleasure?

Damn,

I've been laughing for five minutes!

Not at the test, at thicks response.

The test is real. When you cough, you put pressure on your diaphragm and if there were any slippage or tearing in it (that is what a hernia is), then you would feel a pull or pressure against your finger.
