I know lots of people here live in places where the death penalty is still in use. I guess it is seen as the ultimate punishment and deterant.

We got rid of the death penalty here in 1965. Now many people are saying that we should re-instate it for such henious crimes such as peadophilea (ie Sarah Payne (about 7) - murderer still not arrested).

About 25 odd years ago there were two 'people' that killed several childeren called Ian Bradey and Mirah Hinderly. The kidnapped, tortured and sexually abused them and then murdered them.

They were sent to prison for life. Almost everyone at the time wanted them hung.

Now the thing is, Ian Bradey is beeing 'force fed' through a tube because life in prison is being made fucking hellish (fucking right) and the whole nation is saying 'Good, keep the fucker alive, he deserves to go through the pain'. Many other 'people' (ie convicted peadophiles)in this position have committed sucide because their time in prison is so tough.

My point is, do you think that perhaps executing these guys is an easier option for them than spending the rest of their natural live in prison (in this country rapists, peadophiles etc have their lives made hell by other prisoners and the guards).

Maybe we should do what they do in some Middle Eastern countries, get them to serve say 10 years, then death?

It sounds like executing them may be easier on them than serving their time. The prisons in your country must be really harsh. I havent heard of too many prisoners in the US committing suicide. There are stories about how tough the prisons here are but they have A/C, three meals, cable TV recreation rooms, etc. so they cant be all bad. I say make it as hard as possible so prison is a real deterrent to committing a crime.
