BackStreets is sliding downhill. Heteros have overrun it, once something catches on in the gay crowd, heteros feel like it is their duty to be hip and experience it. It ruins everything, there is Charlie Browns X-Rated Cabaret where it is nothing but an over the hill drag bitch that insults all the gay men while kissing up to the straight ones. It should to be that when you went to Backstreets, the doorman would pass out cheap sunglasses when you left because you would go in at 10PM and not leave until about 8PM the next morning, the sun would blind you when you walked out of the building. sometimes on the way to work I still see car loads of people riding around at early morning hours with sunglasses, and think "yep, they come from Backstreets" Ground Zero in Atlanta is pretty hip right now, Kaya is good too. | ||

Allright f#ck it I have to rant! Clubbing used to be a cool experience in New York. I started when I was 15 and it was a different vibe. People were real chill, creative and it was not all about drugs. Sure we all did do drugs but the night didn't revolve around finding drugs and doing drugs and nothing else. I really hate the club scene in New York. Everybody looks the same, wears the same clothes, does their hair the same way. There's a lot of hot girls but mostly they are all club sluts(i.e. I'll suck your c*ck if you give me an e, comp, let me ride your Lexus, whatever. And a lot of the guys, many of them huge as most of you now, are a bunch of d!cks looking to start fights. There never used to be fights. The best club in NY is Vinyl. It is world famous for its Body & Party and for Danny Tenaglia's party on Friday's. Check any international dance music magazine and you will see either Vinyl or Twilo mentioned. I like Twilo but its getting too corporate and too expensive. They never mention Exit or Sound Factory because their is nothing unique about these places, there big drug holes! | ||

I'm with funkoram on this one, even though I'm from the West Coast. I started clubbing when I was about 16, and back in the early 90's the vibe was completely different. Again, I'm not going to say anything about the East Coast (I've only partied in Baltimore and Philly, so forgive my ignorance of the scene in NY). Well, anyhow, sometime around 94 or 95, things started changing, at least out here. More and more MAINSTREAM people, folks who didn't give a fuck about the music or the subculture that came with it, started POSING. You know what I'm talking about, completely square jocks, instead of chilling at their local sports bar and grooving to R&B, abandoned their No Fear gear, began buying club clothes, and started to flock en masse to house and techno clubs. What the FUCK? Now, after almost 5 years of their persistent infiltration, the line has been blurred, at least to the untrained eye. The sheep will continue shelling out major cash just to get inside these "trendy" house hotspots. Those, who know a thing or two about this culture, have already given up on this genre of electronica. The best clubs in this country don't cater to posers and absolutely don't play house; real house is dead. The music of now is drum and bass. Peace | ||

YEAH NYC CLubs own sorry to all other NJ has some nice clubs ... but here is some oldies but goodies.. pre sound factory days... Metro-700 , Jams/ ECHOs , Act III, Avanti's.. And of course Sprats after a day at Feild 4 on Jones Beach..... And Bridgeview Yacht club way to easy to hook up... | ||
