I heard that one volcanic eruption spews more CFC's into the atmosphere than all of what mankind has made combined. If this is true weve been fed a huge lie by greedy opportunists.

"Thinking that mankind's activities can have significant effects on the environment is the height of arrogance. If you really believe mankind's activity can change the Earth's temperature, you probably also think that if all of us jumped up and down we'd change the earth's orbit, or if we all got out our paddles we could change the direction of the tides." --Walter Williams

the global warming theory may be a myth, but i bet if we really tried to destroy the earth it wouldn't be very hard.

I can't wait for global warming because an ice age is due soon and we know sure as hell that an ice age for man kind is much worse than melting ice caps!

I dont believe any attempt to reduce greenhouse gases and global warming is going to make any difference to our climate.
Check this link out, for info on climate change etc.. http://williamcalvin.com/1990s/1998AtlanticClimate.htm

Hm with people living in parts of Austrial and south america that HAVE to wear sun glasses all day and Have to deal with radiation alerts... Yeah I think global warming is a reality, and that big fuckin hole over the antartic would also be a good indicator!!!

Wodin I think your confusing the ozone layer with global warming.
Less ozone means more harmful UV rays reaching us which is not good. Ozone depletion is caused by the breakdown of CFC's.
Global warming is caused mainly by excess carbon dioxide, although CFC;s are partially responsible , I think the ratio is 55% Co2 and CFC;s are 17%.
I dont think theres much point trying to limit Co2 emitions, but CFC;s should be eliminated.

Also I dont think volcanoes emit CFC's when they erupt.
They do emit sulpher dioxide though and this does damage the ozone layer.

I'm not confused jake. These two issue are related and correlate. Less ozone not only leads to the increase in uv rays, it also leads to an increase in all forms of solar radiation hitting the planet, which is basically what heat is!

Hmm, sorry Wodin im getting confused now.
Too much conflicting info out there!
Still I think we are due another ice age, and nothing we do is going to make much difference - maybe we can slow the process down a bit though.

Weapon X how can you be so ignorant and arrogant to the fact that we can and we are changing things for the worst. I mean we are responsible for the extinction of animals, destruction of the forests, pollution, waste, and it's just getting worse. Right now we have the technology to destroy the entire world in a matter of days. And for the first time in earths history there are over 5 billion people living on it. As for the debate as to weather our pollution is contributing to global warming, time will tell, but the fact that we have suggested that our pollution is contributing to the problem has to make you think.

8pack, get off your high horse, re-read my post and see if I said anywhere that we are not affecting the environment with pollution.
I simply put forth that "Global Warming" is a lie. And if it is a lie, then Gore's entire Crusader stance falls flat for the alarmist claptrap that it is.
We seldom see any media voices dissenting about "Global Warming" and so we all accept that Environmentalists are Saints instead of Extremists, and that Business is Evil instead of the Lifeblood of this Nation.

Global warming is a crock. The earth is a system like any other system. It finds an equilibrium and stays there. The ice ages occur as a result of the sytem in which it resides. It is a cyclic event that repeats itself and fairly predictable intervals. In between major ice ages are mini ice ages. Also, the warming of the planet is also cyclic.

The ozone layer holes over the poles are also cyclic. If you follow the photos made by the nasa satallites over the years since they first started watching them, you see that the hole shrinks and gets larger.

Radiation reports what a crock! Let's think about this for a second. Our son is a big fusion reactor with no shielding. Our atmosphere has a certain capability to block a portion of the harmful radiation from the sun. Now, let's say the sun burps, (has a solar flare, increases output for a bit, etc.) the radiation reaching the earth goes up and since the planet can only filter so much out the excess gets through. This is what I believe is happening.

Can man/woman affect the planet? Sure, but I don't think we can do it with hairspray and airconditioners. Nuclear weapons, over mining and forresting, over fishing and hunting, over population sure. But the earth is also a living organism, and if we become harmful to her, she will retalliate to stay alive. If we have to many people on the planet, we cannot produce enough food for them, medicine, shelter, etc and they die off. Ever since the forresting of the rain forrests has started, new and strange diseases have been creeping out and killing people.?

Anyway, the whole thing of global warming is natural and nothing to worry about.
