its big here in indiana also, but i look at it like this bro, its just another reason our women expect us to spend $ on them. this year i played dumb and did not even bring it up, and believe or not it actually worked. it pays to be a prick sometimes!! ------------------ | ||

We have it in IL. I think it is something that Hallmark made up so they could get us guys to buy cards it probably went down like this. A guy walks into a hallmark store to get his kid a birthday card or some shit. As he is paying for it the store manager says, "Sir would you like to buy your wife a sweetest day card while you are here." The guy obviously has no ideas what is going but he does not want to look stupid(male ego) so he says sure when is sweetest day, then the lady says tomorrow. So the guy gets his card then goes and tells all his buddies that they are going to be in deep shit if they dont get their wives or girl friends sweetest day cards. basically jae, sweetest day is a mini valentines day in oct. kind of the same rules. you buy flowers,card,candy,dinner,etc. thats probably the best i can explain sweetest day. hope this helps! ------------------ | ||

i had holidays that are steeped in commercialism like that. at least dias de los muertos is a pre-columbian celebration of the dead.. that's more exciting than a mushy chick holiday. | ||

parties .. parades... dances... sometime during that day you are supposed to visit the grave of a loved one and spruce it up, flowers, and stuff, and sit down and have a picnic! | ||

Johny O sounds like a cool holiday, I am suprised it has not caught on here in the U.S. As a society we are lacking a holiday or occasion that honors those that have passed on Sharps |
