I JUST GOT AN 8 WEEK OLD ROT AND ALREADY IM HEARING THE HORROR STORIES. SHE SEEMS LIKE A CALM DOG. SHE IS ALREADY HOUSEBROKEN AFTER ONLY 2 DAYS. SHE LISTENS WELL (SOMETIMES). ANY TIP ON RAISING HER TO BE A MILD MANNERED DOG? TATOO    | ||

TRAINED AFTER 2 DAYS??? WHAT? I AM ON A MONTH NOW, AND MY DOBE IS JUST GETTING CLOSE. MY DOBE ALSO HAD COCCIDEA, SO THAT MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE. I HAD A POST ABOUT A MONTH AGO ABOUT DOG TRAINING, DO A SEARCH, SOME OF THESE GUYS HAD SOME GOOD TECHNIQUES. AS FOR OBEDIENCE, DONT DO THAT TILL SHE IS 5 MONTHS.. THE LYRYNX AND ALL THAT ARE NOT ABLE TO HANDLE CORRECTIONS WITH A CHOKER... OTHER THEN THAT, STICK WITH THE SIT, DOWN, AND COME STUFF... DOGS ROCK HOW MUCH DOES IT WEIGH? MALE OR FEMALE? | ||

Dogs are like kids you have to set the rules and stick to them. Be very consistant. Start slow with the basics like sit and down. When you teach the dog to stay make her stay for 30 minutes at a time. Gard training I have no clue I do hunting dogs. trouble | ||

A dog is only as good as his owner/trainer. The hooror stories you've heard is because the dogs were mistreated or weren't taken care of properly. Give it alot of love, alot of praise when it does what you want, never beat your dog. A harsh loud tone in your voice is all the punishment it will ever need. Rotts are stuborn sometimes so you have to show it that your the boss. Rotts are the smartest dogs out there, I don't care what anyone says. If you need more help, drop me an email. | ||

I would suggest to train her to feel comfortable in a cage, wish i would have done this with my labs, not keep her there all the time just to get her used to it, for things such as riding in the car, staying off furniture, out of your bed ETC...My labs are able to do whatever whenever they want they think they own my house and let me live there!! As for tempermante as one has said if you are strict but not mistreating she will do wonderful! Good Luck Bro, Rotts are beautiful animals! ------------------ | ||

AGREE WITH ROT FOR THE MOST PART... BUT BRO... DOBES ARE SMARTER...  ACTUALLY, I AM SURE MOST HAVE READ THE REVIEWS WITH RANKINGS AS FAR AS SMARTS... DOBES WERE 5TH, ROTTS 7TH OR 9TH... POODLES WERE 2ND (WTF??) ONE OF THE DUMBEST WERE BULLDOGS... HEHEHEHE, LAZY FUCKS... THE DUMBEST WAS THE UGLIEST AS WELL...AFGHAN HOUND... HORRIBLE!!! | ||

I'd have to agree...Dobes are smarter that Rotties....however all that really matter is how much the owner knows so they can train the dog....I personally think German Sheps Pitts, and Goldens are the smartest....best instincts too... | ||

I have had three differnt Rottie's and they can very easily trained. Email me and I can give a number of websites to checkout. Just remember that rotts can try and be dominate dogs and you have to let them no that they are not the boss you are. If you train them right from the begining they will be one of the best dogs you will ever own | ||

Tatoo, Give chyna some equipoise and make her run on the treadmill for an hour a day. Oh yeah feed her only once a day. That will make her nice too. What board don't you post on? junior |
