I am definately setting myself up on this one, but, I woke up with a head & chest cold, coughing like crazy and now my left ear is KILLING ME! I have taken meds for the other symptoms already and nothing is helping my ear. I never get ear infections so I don't really know what to do for it. Ok, let me have it! Be kind and helpful please.....  ------------------     | ||

Honestly, you need to go to a doctor and get a prescription for some medicated ear drops. I know this is probably not what you wanted to hear, but it is the best solution. I used to get REALLY bad ear infections, but after I did this for a while they went away and never came back. They will tell you to put the drops in your ear and then put a cotten ball in it. You need to lay on the opposite side, also, so that they cannot come out. You could try some over the counter drops first, if you want, but they will probably not work as well. Hydrogen Peroxyde in your ear will clean out the infection and it works very quickly. | ||

Maybe, Maybe not. If the infection is into the inner ear, peroxide can't get to it Go to the doctor. I've had it where the ear infection was actually the cause of all your other symptoms, cold, sinus..etc. | ||

Dry heat. Heating pad, anything dry and hot. My grandfather would blow smoke from a cig in my ear. (I know, I know) but it worked. something to be said for those old remedies. It won't cure it, but will help ease the pain. Doctor Zebo is in, baby!!!! ------------------ | ||

I used to get them after airplane flights. If the infection is in the inner ear, you'll need to go to the doctor and get some antibiotics. Do you have that clogged ear feeling? Are you right now standing on one leg hopping hoping to clear the congestion? If so, go see a doctor and take a long, hot shower. | ||

One of the benefits of living in San Diego - a 20 minute trip to Mexico - $4.00 for antibiotics ... no three hours in a doctors office. Alas, a doctor needs to check it and give you a script for drops. Sorry.. hope you feel better. ------------------ | ||

If its internal ear then you will need an antibiotic (amoxicillian I believe is the standard) if its an external infection you will need ear drops... Neomyicin I believe...I get them about 4 times a year and they suck.. ------------------ | ||

Thanks guys, yep, called the Dr. he's sooooo cool, he just called in a scrip for Amox. & some drops. He has been my doc for 10 yrs. I am just shocked he didn't make me come in and pay his crazy $80 office visit. & yes I was hopping up and down on one foot until my equilibrium went wacky and I almost fell on my dog who was jumping with me. He's so crazy! I feel like I am in some sort of tunnel. Hey, Weird Science is on USA. That movie makes me fell like I am in 8th grade again. Ok, the meds are making me ramble. Good question having been through many ear infections as a kid. First the idea of peroxide is a very good one that should be repeated at least a few times a day. Any real pain should be addressed by a Dr. Antibiotics would then be very appropriate. If this does not help, consider any reasonable caliber pistol and like I say, shoot once and kill once. (Flame intended) I hope you clear this up. Like I said if it gets painful don't waste time, see the Dr. |
