can you guys translate this please: it's from "Social Contract and Discourse on the Origin of Inequality" by Rousseau. It was after an important paragraph, and I don't want to miss anything.

Here it is:

Nam utilissimus idem ac brevissimus bomarum malarumque rerum delectus, cogitare quid aut nolueris sub alio principe, aut volueris.

All I got from it was something about using ideas with brevity and then something about recognize intelligence and act on principle.
however, since I don't know a single word of latin I am merely guessing at the words that are similar to English or any other language.

Help!

Kat, it says: Thank you O Lord for the white blind light, Thank you O Lord for the white blind light, a city rises from the Sea, I had a splitting headache from which the futures made.
It then adds: They gave each other a smile with a future in it.

its under the chapter of "the monarchy" on page 78 ( in my book)and follows the paragraph:

"All things conspire to deprive justice and reason a man brought up to govern others. Much trouble is taken , so it is said, to teach young princes the art of reigning; this education does not appear to profit them. It would be better to begin by teaching them the art of obeying. The greatest kings that history has celebrated wre not trained to rule; that is a science which men are never less masters of than after excessive study of it, and it is better acquired by obeying than ruling.

then the latin quote is directly after that paragraph.

The most adventageous and shortest way to distinguish what is good and what is bad is to ruminate on that which you would and would not have desired under another Prince.
