Maybe not all democrats are like this I guess, but this girl at school's mother is going on a campaign to 'highly tax meat, to help people quit eating it like it helps people quit smoking.' Is this the dumbest fucking shit you've ever heard of or what? I couldn't believe it when my friend told me about it. Nevermind the fact that the actual meat isn't even the culprit, more like the hydrogenated fats and processed sugars (fructose corn syrups) in candy, pop, etc.. that are responsible for obesity, heart problems blah blah balh.... Even if meat WERE the culprit, why tax it just because some whiny morons who have no self control can't quit eating it? I'm showing this thread to her, so feel free to flame on away. (BTW- This girl also got in an argument with me when I told her that with a goal of weightloss in mind, canaloupe and other fruits were not the best foods to eat)     | ||

I almost feel sorry for her and people like her. She is the typical soccer-mom who has nothing better to do in her life than to live vicariously through her children and try to make a point to her otherwise meaningless existance by drawing attention to herself. She does this by trying to control the wills of others. She thinks "Oh if I can make them realize what they are doing is so awful then maybe I can forget about the fact that my husband is cheating on me and now maybe I can kick my alcoholic tendencies." Being the mindless sheep that she is who has been raised on a steady diet of Jesse Jackson and Al Gore, she thinks that all she has to do is raise her voice to take on the powers that be. Sorry lady, but it ain't gonna happen. There are some very powerful people in Washington known as lobbyists who are well financed representatives for the beef industry. A soccer-mom who can barely fill out a credit card application vs. a naturally born and bred sales-person. Who would win? I'll leave that to the imagination.....it makes for a fun effect and a great laugh  | ||

I worked at Subway and I had customers tell me the dumbest shit you can imagine about food. I had a woman tell me once that it is a proven fact that if you eat meat you will get cancer and die. This woman has to be related. | ||

I think my fellow brothers said about everything that needs to be said, but I just cant help getting in on this one !! There is a guy on the campus where I live " Preacher Bill ".. He stands around for hours yelling about all kinds of nonsense.. Its pure entertainment.. I say you tell this " to much time on her hands soccer mom to GO FOR IT !! Yes, it will probablly cause her daughter to need therapy later, but MY GOD, think of the entertainment value !!! Its a shame when people who arent with the times try to be.. Without a doubt she has seen some blurb on " Lifetime " while switching back and forth from soap opera to talk show.. She is the kind of person I bet that always has a "flavor of the month".. I am sure if you looked in her house you would find evidence of every passing fad on television.. I wonder what kind of hell she made her daughters life when she lived at home ?!?! Frackal, We are heading in a bad direction when it comes to meat. There are plenty of ways to fix the problem but people resort to the simplest. For example, taxes. I won't even get into the debate of whether or not meat is bad for you or not. It makes me laugh however. It's the same people who smoke a pack of cigs per day, and drink a fifth everynight who critisize the consumption of meat. I'm not making this up, but I once had some vegan girl telling me that I shouldn't eat burgers, this as she is getting to shoot heroin into her 88lb body. I shouldn't eat that burger because it may kill me. Sadly, she didn't even see the obvious irony to her advice vs. her actions. It is very hard to reason with individuals with below average intelligence. They are sheep like myo-genetic said. Whatever Oprah or Rosy O'Donnell says, is the gospel no matter what the facts may otherwise state. Soccer moms are very guilty of this very thing. Trying to justify their miserable existance by butting into every one else's business with something she was spoon fed. It is really sad to see that most people really are that dumb. Like I said, arguing with them is pointless, so the only way to maintain sanity is to ignore them. They have no power, even in numbers. -TG | ||

Yep. You are correct badkins, and ghost as well. It would be my guess that the majority of us on here, are smarter and better looking then the average American, no doubt. I show her this thread again but she's rather mean and difficult to argue with. The mother is dumb as hell, the daughter, Gwen is fairly smart though, but she does to many drugs I think. | ||

And about that automatic assumption that everyone who knows how turn on and use is a computer nerd...well that is just icing on her cake of ignorance. Ok "smart lady" who I DARE not criticize: Why don't you back up your case against the beef industry? BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO CASE! Ancient man lived primarily on a diet of red meat and various berries that they found. This was about 6000 years ago, when man was still a hunter-gatherer. If you ask any anthropologist who studied ancient man, they will tell you that this period contained the healthiest humans that our species has ever seen. Obesity, heart disease, cancer, and all the other major diseases were non-existant to them. And our genetic code has not changed in over 50,000 years to a significant degree so there is no argument about a difference in genes over time. Upon the advent of grain farming and production, we began to see a sudden increase in all of our modern diseases. Estrogen levels were increased due these grains amoung other hormonal imbalances to which this type of diet leads. Why did doctors rally against the beef industry? Because the media drew some correlations using results of some poorly conducted studies on diet. Guess what doctors are saying now about saturated fats? "We were wrong.....but still only consume in moderation." And you like to jump on people who use computers. Well, well, well. That is just like a sheep. Maybe if you turned off your T.V. and picked up a book you might open your eyes to the fact that the media controls every fact of your meaningless life. But I suppose "survivor" and those other worthless shows about other peoples lives are too important to miss. So while you waste your life away in front of the TV, I'll be on-line educating myself and amassing wealth far beyond what you will know. Why do I do it? Do I want to win a woman? Laughable! I live in the Philippines and as an American with a half-way decent body and looks, I have more women (and far prettier than you I'm positive) than I know what to do with. So I do what I do because I don't want to be a sheep. I live to be the shepard. Arrogant and conceited? Maybe. But at least I know where I stand and I know that my mind is my own. So I at least have a right to be arrogant. You on the other hand can't even defend your cause using a coherant thought. I rest my case. | ||

Meat huh? Man has been eating meat for oh say since he stood upright. I have been eating meat my whole life, I prefer meat, the rarer the better! In fact, I only need meat to survive a healthy and fit life. I am 230, 5'10 have around 8-10 percent body fat and I am 36. I will never have cancer from eating meat, but give me time. The tripe that all you liberal types spew about needing to protect us from ourselves may just give me a brain hemmorage. Your answer to everything is tax this tax that, pleeeeeeeeeeez, why don't you try education instead. Oh and as for the nerd, your right!
