I really wish I could sleep, but I guess I'm just too stressed at the moment to sleep. I've been up since about 3am.

I don't have details of why he was arrested .. but most likely DUI or public intoxication.

Let him stay in for a while. You get a break from the bullshit and he can detox.

This will effect your focus at work, too.
Didn't you bail him?
Maybe he has no money or cards with him.

Good idea , Wodin.
Yea, he broke the cardinal rule of friendship,
and left you.... to make a 30 mile walk.
It was his fault then and now.

No I didn't bail him yet .. He called about 2:30am or 3 saying he was arrested ... I didn't pick up the phone.

I called him on the cell phone later, but he couldn't tell me WHERE he was, so I wait until somebody knows something.

As of 15 minutes ago he's in city jail, but they are not finished booking so they don't know anything except he's there. They recommended calling back in a couple of hours.

He has his bank card with him I'm sure. He has about $1600 in the bank, I have about $1700 in mine, but I have to pay the house today ($950), so if it's more than $300 or so to get him out, I honestly can't.

Damn Johnny, go get that mofo out as soon as possible, I guarantee he is in a big ass holding chamber with about 40 other dialects that are drunk, hung over and wanting some ass. Houston City Jails are horrific.

It 's about 6:15 Texas time and the shift might be changing, could take all morning, if they are advising you to wait before you call.

Don't sweat it, he's probably out of it anyway.
Tell him your not getting close to him till that "jail smell" falls off of him.

Sounds cold but you have the psychological advantage now.

interesting ..

.. He called (upset of course) seems there was some type of accident in progress, and he ran into the existing accident. He refused the breath test, which is why he's arrested.

I'll call to see if booking is finished around 7am.

I'm not sure if this applies, but here goes anyway.
I have twice (years apart) had friends that called on me for help.
They each lost their apartment, job, whatever, and needed a place to stay while they got on their feet.
On both occasions I experienced our friendship go south over what I have come to call
"Bite the hand that feeds you"
It seems that since they were down and I was up,
they came to feel that I had some kind of power over them.
I paid the rent, I put food on the table, I paid the phone & utilities
and they got mired deeper in depression.
I guess it was a protection mechanism on their part
that they came to see their lack of job, money etc as somehow my fault.
Both wound up getting quite flakey, one smashed pictures on the wall, etc.
Finally I had to force them to leave,
and they did the same thing with the next friend to "save" them.
I'm not sure what the lesson is there,
except maybe it's not your job to save him.

Most jails require cash for bond which is 10% of actual if bondsman is used. It is going to be at least 500 unless they or him. If he caused any injuries then it could be hiher. At least he didn't submitt to breath test. If he did fields then he is probably screwed.

They might let him out on his Own Recoginisence, if Houston jails let you use
band cards. Ask about that. If so go to work,
and let him wait it out for the jail personell to get around to letting him out.

I say let him rot..he left you to walk...screw him.

Of course, if it was me I'd prolly be a pathetic piece of shit and bail him out and hate myself for it, so I hope you dont do it.

Booking is finished .. they say he's on hold for DUI, hmm... bond has not been set, could be anywhere between 12 to 24 hours before bond is set .. SOOO ... I guess I'll go to work, and just call back to the jail every so often to see what is going on.

Really don't think there is anything else I can do.

I don't know what advice to give you Johnny, sometimes we let our hearts do the thinking for us and it causes more pain than good.

It seems that John937 has some valid points.

John937 has advice that is wise beyond years of actual experience. Read it, learn it.

I am with Bikinimom here. Just the other night he hated your guts and left you to walk. You should leave him to his own problems right not. If out of nothing more than just spite. The way I see it, his behaviour in the past of being physically abuse, vandalizing your property, etc.. a stay in the clink is long over due.

Now if I could somehow twist your arm and make you do anything I want, I would make sure you had an "anonymous" friend over when he got out.

Ahem...!!

Houston Jails are crazy over crouded. Of all the jails I have been in (traffic tickets) Houston was by far the worst.

johnny,

i've pulled a few of my friends out of houston city jail and county too...a couple of quick pts:
- he's in city, but they take them over to county at the next transport after bail has been set. the last time i bailed someone out (12/29/00), he was pulled in at 9pm, and they set bail at 11am and were going to take him to county at 12 pm...i just got him out in the nick of time. if you don't know, at county, they do the full processing and he gets a nice cell with a bunch of homeys, etc. it ain't cool and the process/time to get out is much longer.

-if it's his first offense (sounds like it), then the bail will be about $1500...you can bond him for 10%...no big deal. i would call one of the bonds guys in town as they can/will know what is going on with him as many times the bail is set and he may/may not know.

of course, that is if you want to get him out..which isn't my biz
good luck
ss

I've bailed one of my friends out of jail before for a DUI. It something you can always use to your advantage in the future when you need a favor.

So if he takes it in the ass while locked up, is it considered cheating? Just kidding bro, trying to make you laugh.

This gabby guy seems to have a real problem with alcohol. Didn't he get drunk and get into a fight with you and give you fat lip?

yep, you're refering to Halloween night when he tried to run me down in his convertable, and started wrestling in the grass. Got a fat lip and a hurt shoulder.

Actually the shoulder still hurts a little - think it's a pinched nerve.

Gab has a big problem with drinks .. tried AA then quit. I bet they are going to force him to go now.
