I read that earlier today and was sickened by it...unbelievable what happened to those Chinese people... Makes that Holocaust look like a paper cut

A few years ago, I read "The Rape of Nanking: The Forgotten Holocaust of WWII" by Iris Chang.

This is not an easy read. It is very upsetting to read the horrors of war. One of the most disturbing books I've ever read.

I'm with Big Whitey on this..the Japanese and Chinese have hated each other since the dawn of their civilizations and each has inflicted monstrous atrocities on each other.

War is hell......and there is a fine line to cross between becoming a war hero and war criminal.

Difference is....the reasoning behind the military action. Japan was seeking expansion at any cost. So was Germany and the Soviet Union. The U.S. for all intents and purposes, since the 20th century, has always had a clearer objective behind warfare.

Our involvement in WWI & WWII clearly had honorable reasoning behind it.

Korea and Vietnam, even if flawed by poor leadership from Washington, still had honorable reasoning behind it.

The Gulf war, even if motivated by big business, still had honorable reasoning behind it.

That is the difference. Dropping the bomb on Japan was the best decision made during the war. It's too bad we didn't have that capability earlier so we could've bombed Germany as well.

The U.S. didn't have "death camps" or killing competitions, etc. shown in newspapers. Sorry, but any citizens of any country knowingly participting in such activites should be held as expendable as front-line soldiers.
