This Thursday I was out for my weekly dinner with friends and we were sitting around having sushi and discussing what came across our minds. We are odd folk, so odd things come up - I first raised that I found it odd that one rarely sees midgets and/or dwarves of Asian descent (one of my coworkers, upone hearing my comment another time said that it is unlikely we would notice a difference between "notmal" and "non" - the rant I have for the blindingly stupid is a whole different thread). This, somehow, in a strange way led around to us discussing the power sit up.
My good friend contended that it is perhaps the greatest invention of all time and we pondered its origins. Surely it must date back to the dawn of time when even cavemen must have tricked each other with it. This same friend maintains that the power sit up is a far more important invention than even the internet.

For those of you not in the know (I would think any male over the age of 12 would know) a power sit up can be carried out as follows:
1) you are in the gym, preferrably in high school, and you and your friends have either a size or age advatage over some other people there.
2) there is some cocky dipshit there that thinks he is the worlds answer to... well anything. they usually have problamatic lat syndrome and are walking around arms out - at my school they also were keen on losing their shirt quickly upon entering the gym, even though that wasn't technically permitted.
3) you then need a large guy - preferrably fat and smelly - and truly ideally, he is very strong and also has seniority over the intended victim.
4) you need one person that is just amazingly strong - the strongest kid on teh football team is a good shot.
5) you need an area to do sit ups - ideally an incline bench
6) you need a towel.

It then goes as follows. Find your prick target. Several of you should walk up to him and let him know that you think he obviously very strong and you are very impressed with how much he is lifting. His head will start to grow. Ask him some pointers on how to lift stuff. You want him to think he is even more "the shit" then he did just prior. Then say, "you know, I'm willing to be that you could even do a power sit up." If he has heard of the power sit up, then he gets pissed off and walks away. If he hasn't (or is so dumb so as to fall for it multiple times - there was a kid a my school that fell for it three times), then his interest will perk up. He will want to prove himself. Another kid in the groups should doubt that - "nahh, I don't think he could even do one." Someone else will counter, "he is so strong with other stuff - look at him, I definitely think he could do at least 5."
Then the kicker, someone has to act shocked "5!? The biggest buy in the school (say the name of whoever that stud is) can only do 4 - how can this guy do 5?!"
At this point, this guy is going to be dying to show off his amazing strength.
Get him to lie down on the incline board. Have the large fat and sweaty guy straddle the guy's feet and have the fat guys back facing the sit up person. Tell the kid doing the sit up that the guy is needed to hold his feet b/c these are VERY hard and he has to hold his feet there so as to make sure he does them right. Then the guy lays back on the board. you then roll a towel up and have two guys hold it, and then put it over the guy's eyes so that he can't see - the other guys still holding the towel. then have the guy do a sit up and the guys press the towel down against the guy's head so it gives him resistance. make it sort of hard at first, but let him get 3 off with some effort. then make the 4th harder. then on the 5th, relaly make it hard for hima nd let him up slowly, then when he gets near the top - have the fat guy with his ass facing the kid - have him take his pants down (to the bare smelly ass) and once that is accomplished - release the towel from the kid's face - he will then shoot forward, face right into the fat kid's ass.
The usual reaction is a breif moment of confusion and darkness for the kid, then he breathes in smells something familiar and the realization of what just happened hits him.
Everyone laughs and points, calling him names.
9 times out of 10 this guy will stop being the weight room prick that he was before.

i've never heard of that.

in our school we did the strength test. you tell someone who is strong that you feel that both your arms are stronger than one of his. when he challenges you, you have him put his arm on a desk like he is doing a preacher curl on a flat surface. then you sit on the other side of the desk and, with both arms, try to pull his fist back to straighten his arm. he is trying to pull his fist toward his chest (like with a preacher curl) and you are trying to pull it back. when he builds up enough energy, you let go and he hits himself in the face.

yeah, stalin - we did that one too that you mentioned - sitting down was a good trick, we always did it standing. that went along usually with the "if your fist is biger than your face/balls/whatever sensitive place, then you have cancer" - they'd then compare and you'd hit their fist as hard as you could, which then caused them to hit their face/balls/whatever.
