Hi. Some of you might remember me posting back at the beginning of September about being 230 pounds and depressed about it (original post: http://www.elitefitness.com/ubb/Archives/Forum4/01-2001/000638.html ). I am now sitting right at 194 lbs. and still losing. I wound up skipping the fat burners and going at it the natural way: diet and exercise. I really appreciate everyone's support and kind remarks. I still have another 10-15 pounds to go, but, 36 pounds later, I'm well on my way to being where I want to be. Thanks again, guys.

Just posting another update: I'm down another 6 pounds to 188 lbs. Makes for a total of 42 pounds lost and still going... Thanks to everyone who was so supportive. I couldn't have done it without the encouragement.

I'm really not following a strict diet. I just try to eat when I'm hungry, and I try to stay away from junk. I bike or jog about every night, and I'm drinking almost no sodas. I know it sounds silly, but I really don't count carbs, fat, or protein. I just try to stay away from the known evils, but I don't have cucumber sandwiches three times a day or anything. If I cheat, I work a little harder in my exercise routine. When you boil it down, weight loss is a simple concept. You have to consume fewer calories than you're using. I just figured my BMR (constantly changing as my weight changes), and make sure I'm staying a little under my daily caloric usage. Every 3500 calorie deficit I create is equal to one pound of fat lost. If I want to eat a lot, I work out a lot. If I don't eat so much, my workouts are a little easier. I know it sounds dumb, but I just don't get too obsessed. I just try to exercise a little common sense, and I just keep losing weight. I'm sorry if this is a lame answer to your question, but it's the truth, and it is really working for me.

Drew, this is the first time I read your topic. I must say I'm very impressed with your commitment and consistency. It's people like you who motivate others with their good progress. Keep up the good work. If you can, fill us in on your current bf%. I'm sure once you reach your weight goal, a strength cycle will be in order to harden up those uncovered muscles.

I agree with Drew, I beliee firmly in the "common sense diet" when you choose whether or not to eat stuff that is obviously good or bad for you. my father started working out and eating better and lost about 20 pounds as well a year or so ago and doest work out as much now but has been ablke to keep the weight off by eating pretty damned healthy

Thanks, guys, for all of the kind words. I'll try to find out my bf% and post it. I know that it was 8% before I put on all of the weight (although that was with a caliper on the lower back, and I've since been told that that's not the most accurate way to measure bf%). Again, good luck to everyone with their own goals, and just know that you'll reach them in time. If you read my original post from 5 months ago, you'll see what bad shape I was in before (both mentally and physically), and today I look and feel like a different person, so don't get discouraged. Good luck, guys, and I'll keep you posted.
