I am 38 yrs old, 6'2", 195 lbs. I consume
220-250g of protein a day thru food &
supplements. I currently drink approx
1.25 gals per day now. Not counting
what I mix with the shakes & stuff.
I think this may be waking me up night
as I wake up every hour to go to the bathroom.
Any suggestions ?

Drink about a gallon of water a day, unless you're doing cardio everyday. Then a little more. If you stop drinking water by 6pm, it should make a difference. Then just start all over again in the morning, because you'll surely wake up dehydrated.

Remember, sleep is so important for growth. I used to have to same problem. It's better now that I don't drink too many fluids at night. Unless, of course, I didn't get my water in during the day.

Right now in my cutting phase, and taking eca,(which seems to make me mucho thirsty) I think I get my reccomended allotment of water per day in the hour and a half I'm at the gym. Eca makes me so thirsty, that I just drink and drink till I practically puke. But I'd say a gallon is plenty. Unless you're like 7 feet tall, 500 lbs. And yeah, I wouldn't drink any water like maybe 3 hours or so before bedtime. Not calling you stupid or anything, but of course this should all be common sense.

I disagree.

I don't control water intake any time before bed. In fact, a half hour before bed I will pop some ZMA with a glass of water. Then right before bed a protein shake and water. I'll wake up about twice in the middle of the night to take a leak, and both times I will drink a small cup of water.

Why?

Because you need water to be in an anabolic state. Your body needs the water to create and build muscles and to recover. Thus, you need to be hydrated when you are sleeping. Not dehydrated.

All of you have some very good points. But I myself have to limit my water intake in the evening. Getting up once is fine, but two or more times is ridiculous, I can't get a good nights sleep. As soon as I wake up, I take down 16 or so ounces before my MRP. Within 5 minutes, I'm ready to have my shake, and all that water I drank isn't sitting in my gut, a sign that I am a little dehydrated when I wake up, but also well rested. During the day, I go crazy on water, I'm in the bathroom about 15 times a day at work. If I'm stuck in traffic........
