I posted earlier that I have used the Barry Sears program with great results except I always gained it all back. My question is, how important is it to get the "proper" amount of fat? My diet consisted of a low carb protein shake for breakfast and lunch, then maybe a big salad and a huge steak for dinner. Was I getting enough fat? If not how much too little? Would it have made a difference in my fat loss? I appreciate your help in advance.

Getting the proper amount of fat is of the utmost importance, otherwise you dont know if your eating more calories than you are burning off..

I dont know if you were getting enough fat because I have no idea what is in your shake or the fat/protein in your steak

You should count your calories, or estimate
and make sure you know how many calories approximately u should be taking in, and then figure out how many grams of protein/fat/carbs you should be taking in

The objective of a keto diet is to make your body use fat as a source of energy instead of carbs or protein.Getting the proper amount of fat is very important. When trying to establish ketosis your carbs must be kept at minimal levels. This means that your diet basically consists of protein and fat.Since you cant take in too much protein (it will get converted to glucose) your diet HAS either contain mostly fat or an equal amount of both.(1:1 ratio).A diet is not just a 1 or two month thing that you go through and stay lean your whole life.If you return to an unhealthy diet once you finish the fat will always come back.
