I started a keto diet around 5 weeks ago.since then i have lost a total of around 10 pouds, with about a 2 pound decreace each week.I have no idea what the weight drop is from since i have no access to body fat measuring equipment.Well this past monday i dropped my calories a little lower than i had before.When i started i was getting around 2200-2300 Calories a day but i dropped to ~2000 and bumped up my cardio just a little.Well i have not noticed any signifigant weight loss this week!! Whats going on have i thrown my body into "starvation mode"? What would you suggest doing to get back to losing weight again?

Also is 3 months too long to do CKD? Ive already done 1 month and have 2 to go, in my opinion i still have A LOT of fat to lose.Has anyone here done a long CKD like this??

All help is appreciated.

While on a CKD, many people recommend that for a 2 week period you reintroduce carbs. However that is only for people who are already lean. Chances are your body is just going through a type of adaptive process. Your weightloss will probably resume later. One thing you can do is check your temperature in the morning. If you are below a normal level (98.6) or whatever is normal for you, then you should reintroduce some carbs for a week or 2.

Also if your bodyfat is high to begin with a CKD is not really your best choice. I say this because normally when you come off of one your bodyweight goes right back to where it was before you started. I now only use those diets sparingly towards the end of my dieting cycle, when I am around 8-9% BF.

CKD isnt good for someone with a high bodyfat?Ive read in various places that one might actaly benefit more from it if they have higher bodyfats.So if not CKD then what would you suggest?Moderate carbs/decreasd Cal/Mod Fat/High protein??Thts what i was planning on doing before i reserched ketogenic diets and decided to start one.

How many carbs do you eat over the carb-up? You may be getting too much spill-over from it.

I try to get around 700-750g carbs the first 24 hours and about 500 the second 24.If i gain fat during this period would it be due to an excessive intake of fat and calories or would it be from the carbs?

The main problem with a keto diet when you have high BF isyou almost always hit a sticking point with a keto due to thyroid production. It seems the lack of carbs causes almost a starvation like reaction in your body. But then again that is what ketosis basically is.

As far as a recomendation if I were you I would consider 40% protein 40% carbs and 20% fat. I would just multiply my bosy weight times ten and that would be my starting point. You will lose slower, but when/if you get off you won't put a ton of BF back on.

Get some ketosis strips, dip 'em in urine If not in ketosis you're getting to many carbs. Checking at night is best time. Make sure you get some fat in the diet, this helps to kick it in. Sounds strange but works. Just my 2 cents...
