It always inspires me to see those in wheelchairs still taking up sports, which is what drew me to a recent story about wheelchair bodybuilding.
The article focused on a bodybuilder named Walker Runnels who was competing in some of the biggest wheelchair competitions out there. He took part in the National Physique Committee’s USA Wheelchair Championships and Gulf State Championships.

Runnels spoke about his passion by saying, "As a little kid I had an obsession with sports,” said Runnels, who lives in Effingham, Ill. “But I didn’t think I would ever be able to compete.”Bodybuilding has opened a whole new world for me. I want to encourage other people to get involved and compete. We should never let anything hold us back from going after our dreams.”
I think it's really cool that Runnels can continue to pursue his passion despite not being able to walk. And seeing as how 204 bodybuilders turned out for the Gulf State Championships, it seems like a lot of other wheelchair bodybuilders are pursuing their passion too.
