There's no doubt that fantasy football is becoming a big phenomenon among people across the United States. Every day millions of people log on to check their fantasy team and make trades or other transactions. People are even betting money in their leagues so there is some extra incentive involved.
The outside public views fantasy football as a fairly nerdy activity. Sure it may not rank up there with World of Warcraft in terms of nerdom, but meticulously checking football stats while trying to decide if Cedric Benson will have a better game against the Eagles than Ryan Grant will against the Bears can't be considered cool either.
And as I sit here typing this, perhaps I won't be considered cool for playing fantasy football either. After all, I recently joined a league and paid $50 to join my friends in something I have made fun of for years. And you know what......I couldn't be more into it.
It almost feels like I've been missing out on something all these years by not playing fantasy football. Being in fantasy football adds so much more to NFL games now because I actually have a reason to watch games outside of my favorite team. And while the public may look down on me, I couldn't be happier with my decision to join fantasy football.
