Dude, where's my job?

Globalization is the #1 cause of the decline of manufacturing jobs in the US. Blame Bush, Obama or anyone else you want to.

Eliminate oversea tax shelters? Bullshit. If the US tax code was fair companies would bring that money back to the US in a heartbeat. I read today in the WSJ over $1 trillion is sitting the oversea accounts for US corps and they will not bring it back. Why? They have to write a check to uncle same for 30%+ of it. Who in their mind would do that?

Also, if you are running a multinational corp, and your competition is kicking the shit out of you, what do you do? You go to the place with the most cost efficient labor market and a location with favorable taxes. Ireland lowered it business tax in the 1990's and companies invested tens of billions of dollars in that country. The US could do the same.

That's a big fucking number.

how are "we" supposed to get rid of tax havens? we have no control over places like the Isle of Mann that have no capital gains and a corporation tax of 0%

As AV mentioned there is a shit ton of money sitting overseas ready to be repatriated back to America, but no one is willing to do it at a cost of 25-35%. Obama has already said he won't budge on that either, so that money is going to stay overseas.

You ban all trade with those countries or companies incorporated in those countries. It must be done. The only way we are going to get companies to keep moving overseas is to 1) make our tax code more competitive 2) eleminate codes that are way to favorable.

dude how to u expect to undo what Bush did for 8 years, Plus a war for years after in the trillions$$$

also

until we get rid of offshore tax havens and giving breaks to those that outsource jobs we are f-ed

We need to reward companies that stay here, not reward companies that ship jobs to oppressive states.

The only things that ok to source out is chemicals AND MATERIALs not jobs

reward them with harsh taxes, a myraid of enviro laws, and union employees, what a reward.
Blaming bush is not only immature, but it is flat wrong.
or have you forgotten who controlled congress since 2006

A lot of truth in that statement. I can't think of any example of a nation that industrialized and gained economic power while simultaneously having a lot of labor protections in place.

YES you can lol! Germany was a rice example its farce to not not believe in it.

When you protect and educate you populace they become a more evolved workforce ( tech nology new ideas)

As of now We are rewarding companies who export jobs to oppressive states that have little to no labor rights.

We are a democracy yet make $$ off peoples and kids who have no rights? or recourse?

Again sourcing chemicals, resources, and doing business is fine, but outsourcing JOBS fuck NO.

econ 101 bro, if you want american bizz to be competitive, they have to be able to sell products at a similiar cost.
how can GE compete with sony, if GE has to pay american workers union wages and sony get's to use chinese cheap labor?
your thinking will force more usa businesses to go under cause nobody will buy a television for 5 grand.
