Anti- Aging

Okay, but what's wrong with canola oil? Isn't it among the best fats (at least, that can be bought in a regular supermarket, rather than flaxseed and whatever can be found in a health food store)?

And soy: Gotta have it. Isoflavins and whatnot. As a vegetarian, eliminating soy would reduce my caloric intake by a full third. No thank you!

As far as canola goes, it must be partially hydrogenated in order to be processed. Hydrogenation creates trans-fatty acids, which are not found organically anywhere in nature except through tampering chemically. Trans fatty acids can cause arterial wall damage and lead ultimately to sclerosing. I can't guarantee that canola is bad, and I do not think it is technically as bad as margarine, but it's just not as healthy as I'd prefer.

I understand what you say about needing the extra calories. However, since I'm not a vegetarian I can't really comment except to say that, to be honest, I'm in favor of omnivorous diets for humans. The argument could be made just as easily for vegetarianism, and I don't see any problems if someone wants to be vegetarian. However, if it were my choice to be a vegetarian, I would probably be lacto-ovo rather than complete, just for the sake of not having to restrict myself to a select few types of proteins.

Although devastating to muscle growth, caloric restriction is the most effective means of anti-aging. I believe a clean, simple, healthy diet, with lots and lots of good clean water (NOT distilled), some supplementation, exercise and relaxation are the keys to health and longevity. Do your homework. Check out www.lef.org, they've got a lot of good info there. All the best.

OK, I have heard of the terrible dangers of Aspartame, well basically that it caused cancer in some lab rats. But, what will it really do to you? How much is too much? Tripp OUT.............:mix:

Aspartame is justified if you're a sweetooth. You much more likely to die, be crippled, from eating sugars (obesity, type II diabetes, etc) than to get cancer from aspartame. Artificial sweetners are a calculated risk... just like AAS/HRT.

This may be a matter of semantics, but "steroids" are not given to animals in this country. rBGH's and other growth factors, yes...but steroids, no. At least, not legally.

Steroids are not given to animals in this country????

There are several FDA approved anabolic steroids given, in various combinations, to nearly all animals entering conventional beef feedlots in the U.S. and Canada: The estrogen compound zeranol, the androgen trenbolone acetate, and progestin melengestrol acetate.
