Got my Adidas Ironwork shoes!

My Adidas IronWork weightlfiting shoes have arrived! But I got smacked with a GST (tax) and Import Duty fee of $57.10 AUD! As if the shoe wasn't expensive enough as is

Shoes feel solid - see attached pic, they make you feel like your bolted to the ground! Rock Solid heel and slightly elevated for upright rock bottom squats and olympic lifting! I can't believe I put up with mushy sports shoes for so long!
Can't weight (sic) to test drive em on squats and power cleans. I should be able to OL more - solid transfer of power rather than shock absorbing muschy shoes :)

This is where I got em

In hindsight I probably should have ordered the more expensive pair with the 3 carbon fibre straps - more support. Not sure the single tarsel strap on mine is sufficient. This is the one BFold has.
:bawling:

Oh well - when these get worn I'll get the better ones

expensive but if your doing competitions they prob help quite a bit. I know a lot of guys that train in wrestling shoes but the soles dont seem solid enough on those.

I train in wrestling shoes. I like the fact that there is hardly any sole on them, but really good grip from the tread. I like the feeling of my feet flat on the floor rather than have a raised heel. PLus, they have good ankle support.

hey just wondering, do you do calf raises in those shoes? seems like wrestling shoes would be better for those IMHO.

I don't do calf raises - I don't really need to.
All the high pulls and stuff I do are enough to make mine grow.
Good genetics maybe :)
I'll be using my regular shoes for deadlifts and jumping around and stuff and these for squats, Cleans etc

Well the raised heel just allows you to do Olympic Lifts and rock bottom squats more upright that's all, keep the stress on the quads when you start to fatigue or lack flexibility. I know some people who couldn't go Ass to the floor until they got shoe slike these.

Wrestling shoes are good for deadlifts though. But I reckon these shoes are better for high bar squats, overhead presses and cleans etc. Plus you need low cut shoes for OL and High bar squats.

I just read somewhere that with weightlifting shoes you should buy them half a size smaller than your regular shoe size. Hmm maybe mine will be slightly bigger than intended...

They're not cheap, but these sort of shoes last ages, especially since you only wear them while training. A good investment IMO.
Just cut back on the supplements to fund em :D

i'v been looking for some good weightlifting shoes, but haven't really wanted to order off the net because shoes sizes differ from shoes to shoes...some shoes i wear one size, and other shoes i were like an inch 1/2 smaller or bigger, did you have any problem with this? and how you like your shoes? will they take them back if they dont fit?

I squat ass-to-floor for high-bar squats in my wrestling shoes. I have no problems at all. The ankle support on my shoes is flexible enough that OL and high-bars squats are not affected, yet support your ankle sufficiently.

Maybe someday I will give a pair of shoes like those a try, but for me, it would be more of a pain to switch shoes depending on the lift I am performing when the wrestling shoes work great for all of them.

They fit perfectly as far as how they felt today! Just remeber these shoes are in US sizes. UK size is usally half a size smaller in the same dimensions. I normaly wear size 10.5 shoes Uk, so I got these in 11 US - perfect.

I must say they make overhead squatting so much easier! The difference is like night and day!!!
Normally a 45lb bar feels really wobbly and heavy. Not anymore.
Plus you can squat with a much more upright and narrower stance. For BB'ers who want to keep the stress more on the quads. This is the answer.

I can go rock bottom in normal sports shoes as well, but the difference in stability is pretty dramatic. I usually have to go slightly wider in stance than I'd like to stay upright, with these shoes, you can narrow your stance a lot more, especially in front squats.

For overhead stuff like standing presses - these types of shoes will help a lot.

You can us ethese shoes for the whole workout - its just that deadlifts get easier when your lower down to the ground that is all. For BB'ers its a non-issue IMO

You should email them and ask if you can swap sizes etc
