Steriod diet on a budget and time crunch

So I know there are cookbooks and such but I want to hear some recipes that you guys have come up with that are cheap(ish), quick to make, and help meet goals. I was on a cycle and after talking to a nutritionist came up with a plan to keep high cals, protein, and clean as possible , but alot of it was extremely time consuming and hella expensive. There is no escaping the expense of cycling but this is one aspect i think can be done with minimal expense and tweaked to work with our time restrictions due to work or whatever in general.

Ive got two things i make in 5-8 serving quantities the day before that are pretty delicious, decent results, quick, and wont break the bank.
:jenscat

1. Tuna pasta

Albacore tuna
large elbow mac.
extra virgin olive oil
minced garlic
diced tomato
green onion
light mayo
light cheese

2. beef

Lean ground beef browned and seasoned with : lawrys, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper
add in same pan on reduced heat: canned potatoes
green onion
sliced onion
sliced green pepper
olive oil
ketchup

potatoes can be substituted with brown rice if so add butter. you can also eliminate the potatoes or rice, slap in on a bun with white cheese makes a kind of philly/sloppy joe type sanwhich, but its easier to eat out of a ziplock at work.

If you got one you like that falls into this catagory please share.......:chomp:

here ya go man this is the cheap and easy and effective way

1 can of tuna. after draining it dump it onto a paper plate and mold it into a square with a fork. microwave for 30 seconds. then put 2 pieces of wheat bread in the toaster. put a slice of cheese on top of the tuna. microwave for 20 seconds.when the toast is done put it on top of the tuna/cheese then flip it all ovver. then put another slice of cheese and microwave for another 20 seconds. then put the other piece of toast
on..

1) my version of tuna pasta:
high protein Barilla pasta (otherwise any other whole wheat pasta)
olive oil
sliced black olives
seasoned with garlic powder, black pepper (usually don't add salt)
sometimes throw in cubed, 75% reduced fat cheese

2) pasta with ground turkey
high protein barilla pasta
1-2 pounds sauteed ground turkey (drain out fat)
mix pasta, turkey, a few tablespoons of olive oil, garlic, spices

* sometimes I'll make the above with a few tablespoons of pesto sauce, just for flavoring
* sometimes I make a turkey bolognese with crushed tomatoes, olive oil, garlic and turkey then mix with pasta

3) turkey chili
1-3 pounds of ground turkey, browned and fat drained
throw in a few cans of crushed tomatoes, some olive oil, garlic, onions, cumin, cayenne pepper, paprika
after about 20-30 minutes, I'll throw in a couple cans of red kidney beans, then cook for 10-15 minutes longer

Maybe even add some turkey bacon.

man i do the same thign with my turkey chilli but i add turkey bacon to it also...good shit

I like turkey bacon, but it's loaded with sodium... so I only treat myself to it every once in a while

only one I've seen is by Barilla... most grocery stores carry this brand... it's a multi-grain, protein-enhanced pasta... tastes great... high protein... comes in a bunch of pasta varieties... great stuff!

Hell yea i never looked for that , ill be at kroger tonight son lol...... gonna try my hand at this chili and make it mac style .... Thanks!

gallons and gallons of whole milk.

lmfao check... i go through like 2 gals a week easy
Then your falling short by 5 gallons a week :)

Ever hear of the GOMAD diet? Gallon Of Milk A Day.

Holy shit..... hell no i havent lmao.... like at the most ill go through maybe 3 are you serious!? i might as well lay under a cow and motorboat that bitch. sounds like a kidney stone factory diet

5 gallons of milk?? jeez, with much milk, I would LOOK like THE COW by the end of the week! :)

be at the club and shit ... yea ill have a milk in a dirty glass and a zema lmfao i gotta hit my 5 gal a week goal

1) however many tuna cans you want, drain them and put it all in a bowl. Mix it with some light mayo or (or for less fat some plain yogurt). This will hold everything together. Chop up some celery, onions, chives, fresh halepenios for some spice and whatever else you like and mix it all in. Bam! Tuna salad! However many serving you want throw in fridge don't even need to heat it cause it's supposed to be eatin cold.

I made that chili mac last night with the protein pasta i must say that shit was effin delicious... i made a huge pot of it used good clean ingrdients minus the cubed cheese..... and it tastes great +1 for that suggestion gonna work that into my rotation. Havent had too much run ins with the ground turkey so ill have to try that next time, used lean beef.

i think this was my first thing i ever made lol... i use albacore and egg, quick easy cheapish

glad it worked out well for ya dude :)

yah, I usually make a huge vat of any of those dishes at a given time, enough to last me a few days!

hell yea.Got a huge pot chillen in the fridge and big ziplock full of it now lol. thats what im trying to do bc when i was on diesel i was trying to feed the shit out of it and wasnt able to get large quantities of food on the go for work and such and it was expensive trying to do so last minute. so with like 10 good things i can make in large quantities for a good price and quick it should make cycles more effective. I know some other guys ran into this to so i figured a good post with ideas would maybe lend a hand

whats everybody snaking on? this area usally sucks for me as im a huge fan of Kettle brand chips and black ops on the 360. but i try to snack on : greek yogurt, almonds, fruit, and nut butters (almond, cashew, pb ect) but dam chips and beer are effin delicious esp the Thai flavored chips.....

I made protein pudding recently: a large box of jello fat free, sugar free pudding, almond or soy milk (or skim milk)... and a couple scoops of protein (I used casein but whey would work)... tasted pretty damn good!

why the hell did i not think of this , i know they sell protein pudding..... im so glad i startedthis thread, ill be eating good is there a protein beer i dont know about lmfao

I make protein pancakes too ;-)

wait protein pancakes.... im trying to think how, are you using like just straight up non flavored proteiins for this bc all i have is big blast , and whey to build , i dont see either of these making great pancakes lol

whole wheat flour, plain 'ol whey protein, egg whites, vanilla, almond milk, bakind soda

oh, and walden farms makes calorie free pancake syrup (as well as fruit syrups)... and they actually taste good!

nice... yea i gotta find some plain whey and this will be going down...... another great recipe cheap, quick , make in bulk, meets goals......... i love it. eggs turkey bacon and protein pancakes with fruit toping and toast .. thats got to be one bad ass breakfast both in taste and quality

try to avoid any added sodium such as salt lawrys, etc to minimize water retention and blood pressure
try to buy "low sodium" foods whenever you can, its just cleaner calories

lots of brands have "good plain whey" these days... it comes down to preference... price... flavors... I try to get any brand with a "natural" whey, meaning no artificial sweetners... I also watch for sodium... some brands have higher sodium than others

top round london broil and potatoes. cant beat that for the price
whole chicken. roast it yourself and save $$$
eggs - hard boil em for a good snack
whole oats
flour - bake your own bread/muffins
rice - super cheap

just kinda depends on if your bulking or cutting but besides fresh fruit and veggies eating healthy is cheaper than eating processed pre prepared foods. even if you want fruits and veggies just buy whats on sale or in season or look to purchase from farmers markets or stands or what not.

I think one of the biggest problems is time crunch.. with work woman gym and recreation its tough to eat clean i try to make meals in bulk that will last a week but it can still be a pita. but alot of these meals are super quick super easy keeps weel and taste great... my dv1 cycle i think will be alot better bc of the suggested food

ahhh now thats a whole different topic.. but basically cook in bulk portion things out, freeze portions for later in the week. never cook less that 6 meals at one time.

make a HUGE pan of eggs, cheese, sausage. portion it out. freeze some thats a week of breakfast right there
crock pot. throw a whole mess of meat and veggies in there and do the same.
oven bake 20+ chicken breasts at once. marinate some, season some, put sauces on some.
grill a london broil and slic it all up and throw it in the fridge in portions
burgers grill 20 burgers. freeze 10 put them in bags of 2. the other 10 are placed 2 in a bag and eaten that week.

hope that helps some.

yea thats the plan, i live by myself and rarely cook for my ummm "girl firends" .... but when i cook i cook for like 6 people and ride it out for the week. somthing ive become a fan of is krogers pre seasoned fresh fish. They always seem to have stuffed salmon avail which is delicious and recently they had some pecan crusted catfish which was great. I tend to shop real late to catch the meats on managers special.

I do this one a lot, I use the olive oil mayo... I have tried everything in tuna, BBQ sauce isn't bad, and fat free ranch is ok...just mix and eat for a quick low carb high protein snack.

I tried out some of those pre packaged flavored tune as well... they have a spicy, lemon pepper ect. They are a little more expensive but they give a new taste and are super quick.

How Expensive are we talking?

How Expensive are we talking?

Kroger usually runs a deal on them like 5 for 5 bucks stuff like that. I think they are usualy like a buck more then a reg can of tuna. I always buy bumblebee albacore so its actually cheapier then what I usually spend. They come in packets so they are super easy to travel with.

A new twist on tuna salad:

tuna (albacore) packed in water and drained
olive oil
lemon
red peppers
dill
white pepper
sometimes green onions
sometimes white balsamic vinegar

FRICKING DELICIOUS!

Tried somthing new the other night though its not the most healthy thing ever but its cheap delicious and is another dessert besides the protein pudding.

Thick slices of turkey bacon on a lightly greased baking sheet. cover in brown sugar and add in cyane pepper (to taste) bake on a low heat for about an hr (untill the bacon is cooked and th sugar has melted) Take out and let the suagr harden, what you get is a sweet spicy turkey bacon candy. Reg bacon works a bit better, but this wasnt bad. Again not the most healthy decision for the dessert but better than cakes and pies.....

best by far

tuna chilli drain the oil.
spanish onion diced 100grams
lebanese cucumber diced say 100grams
brown rice serving
lemon 1or 2

MIX!!

best and tasty :)

Power butter PLus double serving protein shakes= Easy and awesome.

Liquid egg whites make them your friend. Cook off some ground beef and some ground chicken and than combine them and spice it out you like. Works great for egg white omelets in the morning.

Bag tuna is so much more easy to carry and pop open at any time. They have some flavored for you eat it right out the bag.

Add protein to everything. Having oatmeal? Add protein, Having wattage cheese? Add protein and peanut butter lol.. Having pancakes add more protein top with peanut butter lmao.

You ever had a vanila protein shake with a sweet potato and some peanut butter? Awesome and awesome for added cals.

take chicken squeeze a few fresh lemons on them add some rosemarry and garlic let sit for a few hours and back it off. Chop up the chicken. Use for chicken salad, chicken wraps, chicken om top of everything ... Just cook off a shit load of it and use it all week.

Add oats to your shakes too.

So its reall simple
chicken
oats
tuna
sweet potatos
Peanut butter
Milk
Veggies
wraps
lots of protein powder.
there is your easy shopping list.. Cant be any more simple. Ive got thousands of recipes.

Is there such a thing as unflavored protein powder? If so, where can i get it. That way the food is altered in flavor.

This isn't a bad idea not relatively cheap but good for every once in a while to switch it up.

1cup brown rice
3-4 egg whites
Small cube diced carrot
Instead of peas I use broccoli
Either small diced pork loin or tenderloin stripped of fat
Tblspn of low/no sodium teriyaki sauce (optional)

Kind of a quick fix of a pork fried rice

Liquid egg whites are usually pasteurized and can be drank raw...I add a cup to my "hulk shake" in the morning...

Liquid egg whites FTW! I use them in every shake.

Also....

Slice or cube a chicken breast, fry in a non stick pan with nothing until it starts to brown. Then turn the heat way down and dump in a bunch of grape seed oil, coat the chicken with mcormick sweet red pepper seasoning...add almonds and cooked quinoa .......
I know it sounds off the wall but its not hard. Takes about 10 min. It's will delicious. Grape seed oil combined with the sweet red pepper is an amazing flavor. Add quinoa (a pure grain that looks like cous cous) plus almonds......perfect meal.

NO PAIN NO GLORY!

Also you can beat the shit out of some chicken breasts with a tenderizer and soak it in the same GSO sweet red pepper combo then grill it. The grilling gives it almost a candied flavor. I found this out by accident but its effin' awsome.

EDIT: I was going to post a link to the seasoning but just read that its fucking discontinued!!!!! Good thing i have a ton of it. Now I gotta find something else.
