![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What factors influence metabolism? I know that thyroid plays a role as well as the amount of lean mass but what else determines the difference between ectomorphs and endomorphs? Also, will a metabolism that has been compromised from years of starving/binging/purging ever fully recover? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I don't know if anyone could ever really determine whether your metabolic rate will fully recover. Your only hope is to determine if it recovers to 'within normal range'. Fitness level is another factor as your body becomes more efficient at metabolizing nutritients with increased fitness. Too, if you've been reading on diet than you've seen that there are various theories with respect to how different foods effect metabolic rate and hormonal response. Stress effects metabolism as well. I'd have to say that overall and fluctuations in body chemestry has a fundamental role in the general efficiencies of the metabolic process as well. ...which all adds up to everyone and his dog having a 'theory' for optimizing metabolism. Then you have to take into consideration what your metabolizing: fat? muscle? blood sugars? keytones? IP: Logged |
