![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Friend of mine at work were trying to place a bet who came closest on this guess. Back in his prime I figured he could bench about 465. Anybody know for sure or want to take a guess? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() For some reason 525 sticks in my head. I have seen a picture of him with 5 plates on the bar. Whether or not he did it, I don't know. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I stand corrected, Arnold could bench 440lb. I just re-read in Arnold's own article in the Arnold issue of Musclemag a few years ago.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Arnold himself says he could do 450 for reps. It's in his Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding pg. 325. It's kind of strange he says he can rep 450 but in the picture this statement is next to he has 365lbs. on the bar. Kind of strange If I could rep 450 that's the picture I would have taken of me. ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I always pictured Arnold being able to bench much more then that. I knew a kid back in high school that could bench over 400lbs. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yeah but did that kid have a physique like Arnold's?? I bet that kid that benched 400lb was a fat pig...no offense.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I am sure when Arnold was bench pressing the 365 on Venice Beach, he was NOT thinking, "Please make sure you get a pic of me doing 450 for when I write my Modern Bodybuilding Encyclopedia decades later." Pic was probably from an archive, and he used what was available. ------------------ "You think that is PAIN?!?! It is premature enlightenment." IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I'm not sure how much he could bench and didn't feel like scanning the encyclopedia. I did notice that he's wearing shorts with a football on them and either 450 or 460 on the football. He has these in on i quite a few pictures. IP: Logged |
