Does the drug cortisone (e.g. prednisone and its derivatives which are used as anti-inflamatories to treat allergies) break down muscle tissue? IP: Logged |

Yes, but you have to be on it for quite awhile before you are gonna see any weight loss due to muscle catabolis. I had to go on predinosone for 5 weeks last month and it didn't cause me to lose any weight. Given the choice between a serious inflammation and the chance of losing a pound or two, go with the prednisone. IP: Logged |

Thanks bros. I have been put on it for 2 weeks at 40mg a day. I assume at this dosage and duration I have no need to worry, right? IP: Logged |

very shortly you will begin noticing some water retention. Make sure you taper down your dose to ween yourself off...very important. IP: Logged |
