Whether you call it Philosophy or Religion it's amazingly modern in spite of its age (nobody knows for sure when Zarathustra lived but it was around 600 to 1000 BC)

He's mostly famous for his "all events of the world are based on cause and effects" and "action and reaction" principle

Strangely enough he never believed in anthropomorphism

He was a real visionary but politics and religion burried him and his teaching.

I've been interested in this philosphy for a while so if you've any serious comment on it (JA if you're still here.....) please feel free to give your opinion

i had philosophy in college. it was an awful class because they hired a professor the day the class began. it never got rolling and we never went deep into any particular philosophy. everyone in the class recieved an A.

sorry i couldn't add more to your thread. i'll reseach it a bit after i get home from work.

The whole good/evil thang traces directly back to Zoroastrianism, and the eternal battle between Ahriman and Ahura-Mazda.

The early Christians figured out quickly that "Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader" is big box office, and they needed someone to play the bad guy. Suddenly the Old Testament figure of Shaitan the Tempter, who (in Job) is more God's loyal opposition than a true figure of evil, was drafted to become the Devil, the Tempter in the desert who offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the earth and a worthy target of Christian anger.

Thank the Zoroastrians for giving the New Testament a plot!

Though quite different Christianity and Judaism borreowed a few "ideas" to Zoroastrianism

As far as its Doctrine of Good and Evil, well, it's still what rules the World today (cf Bush's speech)

dude, this word has a web page

see this:Zoroastrian Matrimonial Page
Fellow Zoroastrians seeking matrimonial correspondence with their co-religionists. By the Grace of God, the Zoroastrian Matrimonial Page is highly successful and popular among the worldwide Zoroastrian community - many marriages have taken place.
Marry inside our community

I think we should teach the Zoroastrian creation myth in public schools. And have selected text from the Avesta emblazoned across the Supreme Court building.
