Haha, all 3 snares I own cost over $700 each.
Oooo... Look at me... My fancy snares cost more than any of BB's Guitars.

Lolololol
My whole set up cost me about $12K.
I also have a $4,500 acoustic Taylor Guitar.
I have nice things, so what? I have them because I like them, and not to feel better than someone else. Don't be a hater.![]()
Not sure of your price range but I was looking at a really nice pearl m1330 the other day marked down to around 200 bucks. It's all maple and I've used one before at a competition and loved it

Buy a pair of sticks and a practice pad for $25 and see if you actually are going to get into it. If you practice for a few months and decide you really want to do it, then buy a snare, and spend atleast $300 if you want something that has a nice sound.
I prefer to play on a pad than an actual snare drum if all I am doing is working on rudiments and technique.
But I cant play the rim on a pad

That's also what I would advise.
Hours of rudiments on a real drum makes for a nice headache.
They make some really nice pads with ball bearings in them to give it a bit of a snare sound
Some practice pads have a rim. You won't get the effective rim shot sound, but it's a practice pad.
Trust me, after 15 minutes of doing work on a snare, you'll appreciate how quiet a pad is.
I can hold my own on a live set but I fuc@king suck at rock band

What skill level do you play on? I tried easy and sucked but my bosses son kicked my ass. Expert is more realistic but nothing beats the real thing, every drummer can agree to that.

Will the rim on the practice pad do an effective job of turning your sticks into splinters?
Ill grab a stack of hard cheap dicks incase I want to get fancy

I actually found the pad with the bearings.
No pads with rims like a snare. I guess ill take the trade off for the sound of an actual snare for reference.

Brabbed the pad (its a POS) and some Pro-Mark 5Bs (cuz thats what they gave me)Don't buy cheap sticks. It's not worth the money.
In fact, I will ONLY use sticks made out of oak. They are harder and much more durable and rarely break prematurely. Hickory and maple sticks break much more easily.
Though, you shouldn't be breaking sticks on a pad, and if you are you are doing something wrong hahahaha.
For pad practice, get a pair of Promark 5A Oak sticks and a pair of Vic Firth SBTH3 which are snare drummer specific sticks.
Buying the 12 pair for $20 or whatever is a waste of money. 2 pair of oak pro marks lasts me longer than all 12 pair of those and cost a couple dollars less. The cheap ones break with nearly every rim shot. They are terrible.

Fucking pad screws won't loosen
ass a lefty in guessing im going tu=o use the fold hold oo my left had and traditional on the right?
traditional is the crab hold?
Lmao, yes.
my fav drum performance is when the drummer walks off the stage and lets the REAL musicians perform
Like faggots on a keyboard playing "Over The Rainbow"?
Yeah, that's way legit bro.![]()
<- 1st love giving Pick3 teh cawk: a shitty one though
