Your Child and Marijuana. Are you a good Parent?

havoc

Shaolin Ninja
Say for example you are a mother/father with a son or daughter, doesn't matter. Your child is a great kid, great grades, involved in whatever(athletics, clubs, etc etc.) around 16 years old. Well one day you find he or she smoking some herb on the patio or balcony and he or she is smoking a joint or blunt. What would be your first reaction and why?
Now contrary to what you might think is correct the following is the only way the situation should be handled.
First you explain to your child that smoking joints and blunts is unhealthy when utilizing marijuana, explain to them that herb should be smoked through water(bubbler, bong), vaporizer or by ingestion(spaghetti sauce for example). Next its obvious that if they are smoking a joint or blunt that the herb that they are inhaling is pure shit. Explain to them that in this household only High Grade Herb is to be used, preferably Organic soil or hydro. The reply at this point from them would be "I can't get any organic ganja". Thats when you the parent assume responsibility and break out one of your bongs from the collection on the 10 shelfed piece of furniture in the master bed room along with some High grade preferably a Sativa strain and properly demonstrate bong hits and how the herb should be cut with small scissors so none of the THC glands are wasted. Let the youngster know that 1-2 hits is all he or she needs and to use it on a "every now and then" basis, not every day. Organically grown herb will nourish this child and bring that whipper snapper insight beyond the limits. When you talk to your kids about Marijuana tell them the truth, show them the proper procedures, dirt weed is Satan. OK? peace

Brilliant post, i may have gotten some bad weed this weekend tuttut, i shall have to use your guidelines from now on. *bows to the weed masta*

I actually think about this often. I'd give them a good stare down and try not to laugh when I see their nervous/scared reaction. Then I'd grab the J take a big ass hit and pass it back to them. Still silent the whole time, after they hit then I'd start talking to them about shit. Go break out my stash and have some good conversation and bring it to a whole new level of bonding. I don't have a problem with joints or blunts or sub-par buds, if that's all that's around at the time, or it's free. I'd let them make their own choices at that point in life, but I'd always be there for guidance. At 16 I'd imagine they'd pretty have the technique down. At that point they would've already been smoking for a few years if they started around the same age I did. If I didn't know they smoked, I wouldn't bring it up to them untill they were a little older. I definately wouldn't blaze openly with them around while they were growing up.

Excellent post bro. Totally correct way to go, education is the key to all things in life.

My motto...

Ignorance may be bliss, but awareness is nirvana.

good post bro, however i think that 16 is too young to be encouraging marijuana use. i didnt start smoking pot until after i got out of high school (18 years old), and i realize now that i was not mature enough to handle the world that pot has introduced me to when i was 16 years of age.
wait until they are out of high school, explain to them what marijuana is all about, then let them smoke their faces off. :)

I agree Wodin that education is beneficial. But the correlation between morality and education is weak at best.

Witness Bill Clinton, Unibomber, and Jack the Ripper

While this linkage is weak at best at present it is due to the disassociative nature of educating children on the practical and the moral issues of life. This are items that need to be intertwined for an all around education.
