Whoa, what military were you in... or what country? Our shit is held together with duct tape. I was scared to work on our planes... but then again, I did work with Harriers I think our harriers and LAVs are tied for the worst in the military though. You have got to love the Marines! We are so cheap!!!

I never said we take care of our toys. Just that we have some really cool ones.

I was a cargo electrician in the Air Force and worked on the C-141 and the C-5. The 141 was an awesome plane and WAY outlived it's expected service life. Tough and dependable. The C-5 was and is a hunk of shit. It's just plain old too big.

Here's a piece of advice. Make sure your will is up to date before getting on a C-5 (or any military aircraft). I never was scared of flying until I saw the type of people that work on planes. Not exactly the brightest of the bunch.

Cheap, Duct tape? I don't argue the point that some of the MIL hardware is beatup.

What the hell do you expect when a vehicle, Plane or Boat is:

25+ years old on average
Beat to hell and back weekly like a cheap rental car by NumNuts High School grads.(No Offense)
No spare parts available
No time to maintain it, wash it properly when in battle
Sitting in a hostile salty, dirty Hot, Cold etc environment all the time..

If the shit wasn't built tough as a MOFO it wouldn't last 2 weeks, let alone 30 Years...
