Yikes, I have a board?

Ok, so my suggestion was that it might help to have a "Masters" kind of board to discuss the differences and difficulties of the body builder, weight lifter, power lifter as they hit their 40's.

Our bodies don't recover the same as they used to, and for some of us, having several kids and a career also make for interesting situations as is having an empty nest and more time to dedicate to the sport/hobby.

Even my eating is significantly different now than it was even when I started lifting over 12 years ago or so.

Ok, so post up! Now I'll have to see if I can drag Ulter to this board... It seems he has hella experience as does Radar and likely Wodin too...

You'll have to prove the better, faster and stronger. ;)

Nah, that was my gift to you. It's appropriately fitting for you :chomp:

I hit the big 40 in June so looks like I will be peeking in over here quite a bit. I sure know that getting in shape isn't as easy as when I was in my 20's. My metabolism is a lot slower to react and the eating process is much more of a problem at this age trying to keep everything on a timing schedule.

I've noticed that I get good gains from the old school 3x a week workout versus 4 to 5 times a week. I would still like to do 4x a week, just to push my body, but not push so hard that it has a hard time recovering before the next workout.

As for appetite, I used to have a hella metabolism rate when I was younger, but I know I wasn't eating enough to gain. Now that it's slowed down, it's easier to put on some good weight eating the same amount as when I was younger. The only real change has been the frequency of my eating, from 3x a day to 6x a day.

Yeah, I find eating 6 - 7 times a day and training heavy for 3 days a week works wonders for me at this age. Something about a slow metabolism that adjusts one's thinking and diet.
