Im doing yet another school paper on roids. This one will give me unlimited amount of freedom. We have to write about a subject that we can argue. I wna do... Steroids are safe for healthy, adult males unlike many claims in the media. I need to bring in a thesis statement tomorrow. any idea's guys? also...I dont need to have any sources for the paper...its all off the top of my head.

Only bad thing about this is that it always brings unwanted attention to yourself to argue a point people already have their minds set to...

Right on. Everytime I'm in a social situation where people are bashing baseball, and roids, and what not. I keep my fucking mouth shut. I do not want people suspecting I'm on the shit.

.........sorry to hijack the thread

ok...eather way I am writing on the subject. Only my teacher will read it. what should I but down...I have this so far...

Steroids should be legalized because they are safe, ....?.., ......?. ?

Ill then go into further detail on each subject. What are some reasons you guys think it should be legalized?

they should be legalized because any adverse health effects are greatly overstated by the media, it has made criminals out of hard working people and created another black market, the FDA (or doctors or something) were highly against its criminilization, teen use is still on the rise despite harsher penalties....

one would like to think we live in a society where laws are passed because something presents a problem, not what special interests and blatant hearsay dictate.

yeah maybe you should write a little bit about the health effects. Pros and cons. But focus more on the legal aspect of it. How doses are measured according to the law. Compare it to other scheduled drugs and compare the differences. i think people might get a kick out of that more easily.

I would be sure to point out that it should be legal under doctor supervision, so that docs can write scrips and then monitor your health. Only problem with this is that most docs do not seem to know much at all about anabolic steroids, so some training would need to take place.

true, most healthcare professionals know little if anything about AAS and endocrinology.

The older I get, the more I realize doctors don't know much about ANYTHING!

As for the paper, maybe point out how large doses of Test in males don't react like large doses of Est in women. How a guy that takes roids won't get big, go crazy mad, grow breasts and lose his hair. Include the problems with teens taking it and how you think they should be controlled if they were legal.

I seperated my shoulder during a wrestling match when I was 17. My Dr said if I didn't have surgery I'd never be able to compete in sports again. I didn't have the surgery. By age 21 I was bench pressing 500 lbs. Maybe it was a miracle? Or maybe my Dr was a lying greedy bastard that was trying to line his pocket with my parent's insurance $$$?

Ironically as a personal trainer with a high scool education and a bullshit Ace Certification, many of my clients were Drs. The ones that juiced consulted me on what/how much to take. I guess they never learned that kinda stuff in med school?

As far as your paper goes, check out that recent HBO special that pointed out how nobody has ever died from roid use. And you could get quotes from that 60 something yr old Bob Klapp guy that says hes been on the stuff 30 yrs. etc. The link can be found somewhere on this site I think?

^ yeah thats what I was thinkin because it says there is no medical proof that anyone has ever died from steroid use. It even has Lyle Alzados doc in it saying that steroids didn't cause his dead and the media and every other idiot blames steroids. Also maybe you can say something like steroids boost confidence and should be used as a anti-depressant. I know I take Effexor for anxiety because I get really nervous when there is a lot of people around. I don't know why I still take it because it doesn't do jack shit for me. The thing that has helped me overcome my social anxiety is steroids. I now feel very confident, even when I am not on a cycle.

Don't belittle the dangerous side effects of steroids. If your paper is just a "steroids are great" type of paper, that won't sit too well if your prof is against the use of aas.
(which he/she probably is)
Instead, point out the dangers of aas if they are abused. However, make sure that u educate the reader that most of these dangers are exagerated by misconceptions. Also, clearly explain how the side effects can be pretty much wiped away with the right cycling, doses, ancillaries, liver protects. etc.

If your prof feels as though they've actually learned something about aas, (which should be the point of any aas paper....to educate) or if you've broken down a stereotype that tye might have had, they will be more likely to give you a better grade.

Last year i wrote a paper on why aas should be legalized, for atheletes only. and they can only use it in the offseason. i got a pretty good grade on it, but its hard to argue against stereotypes that have been around for years. good luck.

P.S; try to stick to scientific evidence, there;s not much to argue with that.

Your problem is that you will find many professionals that will claim that they are harmful but few sources of scientific data that prove they are healthy. I actually argued against AAS in argumentative writing last year and I know I got a much better grade than if I were to argue for it.
