X ratings

some pills i take have just one x. well now that i think about it some of them are double and triple stacked.

I think they skipped X and XX because XXX makes it look like it's really bad and you should avoid viewing the material. XXX is supposed to be scary and stuff.

so at one point movies were rated X, but then it was changed to NC17?

bingo ;)

they attach X and XX ratings to a lot of soft-core porn movies. with this they attempt to trick XXX watchers into thinking that the movie is still porn even though it is really soft-core.

OK then, but what about XX? NC34?

never heard of a XX or a NC34...

ive seen an x movie before i dont remember what the name was, it was soft porn though, i think they switched over to nc17 to get away from the stigma of being called an x movie, since people always related x to porn, but x was also used for a movie with so much graphic violence it warranted a rating worse than r
natual born killers was rated x until they took a scene out of it to get the r rating
wasnt showgirls rated x?

Scary or pornographic?

Porn doesn't scare me :laugh2: I've got 47-48gb of pRon on the computer.

The XXX is supposed to scare people off I guess. It's like the "Mr. Yuck" stickers you can put on bottles of household cleaners and what not so your kids know not to drink it.

no showgirls was rated NC-17

NC-17 has been around for a long time people. At least 12 years

You are all wrong.
The normal movie ratings you see at the theater are copyrighted by an organization <the name escapes me at the moment> and there is a fee to be paid when you use it. The porn peeps didn't want to pay and made up their own - XXX.

is this for reals, like a fact or just what you think/heard/etc...?

There is not now and has never been a formal XXX rating for the movies; it has always been a marketing ploy

Only X is legit

"Last Tango In Paris" was rated X. So was "Midnight Cowboy" I think.
