WSM competitors, what the hell are theyon?

What do you think the WSM pro strongman are on gear wise. You think a little or a lot? I am really curious. I am the same size if not bigger than som of them and I am just wondering if they have the skills or the gear

A lot of the guys are just bigger humans than I am...and they are older and have been doing strength sports longer.

Several of the Amateur US competitors that I know stay on 500-1,000mg of test a week...year round and as a contest nears they will run from 1-2g's of test a week, 50mg dbol a day or 100-150mg adrol a day, fina at 1cc a day, winny (if they can find it), halo (if they can find it) and that is about it.

As far as the Pro's...I'd say that is about it as well. I know that some of them add in deca for joint pains also. One competitor from the US who went to the Worlds a few years ago said that he was taking upwards of 5-10 grams of test a week among MANY other various performance enhancing substances. I don't think that 10 grams was uncommon for him at all...

When you combine hard work, good genetics, years of training, and the gear...you get world-class athletes who compete at the World's Strongest Man.

i have heard a gram a day for many

Come on Stonelifter, it's not like anyone would actually KNOW what they are on.

Why are people always asking these unanswerable questions?

because people are still looking for the magic answer that will take them were they want to be. it is the same when people ask about Pro BB cycles. they think they are taking something different then them or taking more of something. they don't understand the intricit nature of genetics. A lot of people talk about genetics like it is a "thing". genetics is everything. The person's will power to lift that stone. the length of their bones help lift that stone. the attachement of the tendon and ligament help lift that stone. the firing of their CNS helps lift that stone. all of these amazing athletes have amazing genetics otherwise we would all be there. plus there will power and drive are among the strongest in the world.

First off, in no way did I mention that I wanted to be a pro strongman. I was curious as to peoples opinion of strongman gear use as opposed to a bodybuilder who looks huge but can't lift shit. I fully understand and have learned many years ago that the answer does not come in a bottle.

I hate to burst your bubble but there are many strong ass bodybuilders.

I understand there are strong bodybuilders ,but, the purpose of bodybulding is to build your body, be shapely and lean. As opposed to strongman where the purpose is to be powerful.

The strongman events...humble MANY... Most powerlifters are GREATLY humbled as well....VERY humbled by the events.

For the past three years I have been personally trained by 5 x world powerlifting champ in the 150lb category.

At about 150 lbs(weigh in) and competing at about 165 lbs he can deadlift close to 700 lbs , bench 415 lbs, and squat over 600lbs consistently. He's one of the only human beings who is approaching the milestone of squating 4 times his own bodyweight.

Genetics aside he takes over a gram of test/week year round and swiches to testeosterone Suspension about two weeks before a meet. Hope this answers your question.

You bet. Just like powerlifters and strongmen would be put to shame on a stage, and just like bodybuilders and strongmen would be humbled in a powerlifting competition. The obvious point is; they are all different sports requiring different skills, training methods, genetics, etc. One is not better than the other, just different. I certainly greatly respect strongmen and powerlifters. I have no desire whatsoever, however, to be like them. Just like I greatly respect Led Zeppelin and The Who. I'll be damned though, if I could sit through even one song without ripping my ears out. Of course millions would disagree with me and tell me Iron Maiden is garbage. After I kicked their ass, we would then agree that its all personal preference.

Remember just like pro BB's, to compete on their you have to be a genetic freak on top of taking copious amounts of ergogenic drugs.

Strength is highly specific due to the nature of intermuscular coordination learning.

BB'er lb for lb, are among some of the weaker athletes simply because their training promotes sarcoplasmic hypertrophy, and the training of a strength athlete focuses more on sarcomere hypertrophy. Not to mention the poorer intramuscular coordination of BB'ers because of the generally lighter loads used.
