The fashion industry has often been accused of promoting stick-thin perfection in the
female body.

It has also been blamed for the prevalence of eating disorders in young women, a
result of their pursuit of that ideal (however unrealistic) body.

But researchers recently questioned whether fashion and beauty magazines are the
only culprits.

They found that health and fitness magazines also promote images of the svelte,
toned body.

So while they promote health and fitness --- they do it with images of the same
ferfect body that beauty and fashion magazines do. Which is not good.

Well, it depends on the fitness magazine, I suppose, I see stick chicks on the cover of mags such as Shape, but then I think so little of magazines like this that I never open the cover. And I also belive that they are trying to sell fitness to people who have already been sold on the "stick chick ideal."

Who gives a shit, people that let themselves be controlled by media that much deserve it.

I don't know where you live but where I live the only eating disorder must be overeating. I hear something like 60% of americans are fat so its hard for me to believe they are starving theirselves.
