Writing on CDs and DVDs.....

How safe is it to write words on the backs of CDs and DVDs? I once read that the ink can eventually bleed through and corrupt the data.

I like to use Sharpie Fine Points, basically a small magic marker.

soft tip markers are fine and to my knowlege dont ruin them,I have 4 year old burnt cd's with marker on them and they work

You'll be fine writing on then with a Sharpie. General a burnt CD require a little more care than a regular CD. All CDs/DVDs should be well cared for but commerical made CDs are a bit more durable.
