Well, it would help greatly if you had posted more info. 3 grams of Glutamine per day? 3 grams of ALA a day? Which one??
I would take glutamine if you're dieting. It helps a lot with promoting glycogen/protein synthesis, acts as a mild muscle-cell voumizer, and promotes proper gastrointestinal function. Basically, glutamine will act as an anti-catabolic agent and is beneficial for one that has a decreased caloric intake. A 3 gram dose ain't going to cut it though. You're going to want to use anywhere from 15-30 grams a day, spread through out the day, taken in between meal.
If you're not dieting, then you're probably able to get enough glutamine through whole food and protein powder consumption.
