Working in the heat?

Ever since I started working in the heat, I have noticed I look flatter. I drink 2.5 gals of water a day. Last week It wasnt hot and at 2700 cals I looked full and hard. Does working in very hot weather cause you to burn more cals? Does your body burn extra cals trying to maintain a constant body temperature?

Nope...it cools itself passively. Have you always drank 2.5 gallons of water a day? Even on cool days? If so, increase it when you work in the heat...

It's a bitch to keep the weight on while working in the heat. First off instead of drinking water you need to drink Gatorade or something along those lines that will replenish electolytes. Also you may not feel like eating but you have to cram that food down.

Well, maybe I need to go over my calories again.

Ya I think so!!! 2.5 gallons. I've worked outside plenty in summer heat. 2700 calaries sounds very little, especially when your burning more calories. I was pounding at least 4000 cals and approx 1.5 gallons of water. I tried to drink juice throughout the day also for electrolytes. I ate like a mother too!!!

Well, Im trying to cut, so I dont want to go to high. I weigh 204 now at about 9%. A normal day looks like this.

Cardio 30 min
Go to work at 7 and leave at 5. (working outside at a moderate pace, not intense though)
Straight from work to the gym, and train at a high intensity
At about 8.30 I finally sit down and relax, then go to bed at 11.

This would be alot easier if I knew how many cals I acually burned

I agree with vegas...drink something with 6% carbs or so...you need to replenish electrolytes...you're not just losing water through your sweat...i think you'll find that this is your problem. Drink the gatorade while you work, water later in the day.

In England we don't have the problem of training in the heat.
Move over here.

Seriously keep getting the water in and you and you should be ok

I also work construction as a laborer. I did deck footing holes, move wood and do most of the physical work. How many calories do you think this burns in a day. Im curious bc I dont want to shrivel up and catabolize.
