The spread is something I hated at first, but now I realize it makes things much more fun and interesting. Its typically used when one team is a REALLY heavy favorite.. so instead of giving a payout of like 2 to 5... you use a +1.5 point spread to even out the action.
Basically Detroit is on fire now, and to bet on them to win would be the sure bet... a for sure pile on.. so now with the -1.5 for Detroit.. they have to win by TWO.
Now like in baseball, a majority of games are won by 1 score... so Detroit might win by 1 point, but in that case, Chicago would be the winning bet.
Just give you some more to think about. I'm still thinking Detroit is gonna tear it up.
