wags8 said:No I haven't tried it yet, just lusting at this point. Good info though.
Since you have to shake suspensions well before using, i don't believe this idea would work. There would not be enough room to shake the preload to be able to use without any problems.52_21_30 said:I didn't mean to scare anyone. I was recently enlightened by Quad about how there's an alarming relationship between the incidence of cellulitis and to a lesser extenet, abscesses, when using injectables that are dissolved in water. Then when I thought about it, I realized that the guys I know who've had injection complications were all using injectable water-based winny. I suppose since suspension is dissolved in water it would fall under the same umbrella, but if you haven't had any problems yet, I'd say keep at it. Just be EXTRA careful when doing IM pins with aqueous solutions. If you're using a reputable brand then that also should improve your safety margin. Just be careful is all. To my knowledge there aren't any single use vial preps for suspension like there are for winny, but if there were you could try that.
I just thought of this, but what you might want to try is taking a new vial of suspension on a very clean surface, say a table that you've wiped down with alcohol and disinfectant, and then preload all your syringes while being extra careful, rubbing down the stopper with alcohol each time, etc. This would probably decrease your chances of contamination as well, since the exposed stopper top would not be lying around wherever between injections.
