Windows 98 or Windows 2000 Professional.....

I've got '98. Never had 2000 or been tempted to upgrade to XP.
'98 has been very reliable and hasn't crashed in the three years I've been using it.

If I was your computer guy I'd say choose 98, cuz that would get me invited over to fix it more often.
Otherwise you definitely want 2000, although I'd suggest 256MB RAM.

Do you travel 2500 miles? :FRlol:

For you? Why do you even ask?

2000 if you are up to speed with virus protection etc. if not, stick with 98 as not many people bother writing viruses to attack that one these days...

Both are good IMO.

I had 98, then went to 2000 pro. I wouldn't change it now. My boss even wanted to get XP and I said no!

W2000 is da bomb.

Is 2000 Professional the one with the green toolbar and giant fucking menus when you click the start button? That shit looks like it's made for a kindergartener.

Dude, lay off the acid.

Not sure what you're talking about, but w2k professional looks very nice. Hence the reason they call it windows 2000 professional

Broltasm, I thought the same thing. It should look professional. One of these fn Windows OS's is too colorful. I dunno which one it is though.

That might be Windows Mellinium.

That came on my last computer at work and I immediately removed it. Programs were crashing, it treated me like I was (like you said) a kindergardener trying to work a computer.

That's probably what you're thinking of, and yes, it sucks. I'd rather chop my knee cap off then use that operating system.

I,ve run the gambit of OS's starting from Win 3.11, 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000. I've even dabbled with MAC and Linux. Currently I'm running on Win XP.

IMO, if you are a gamer stick with WIN 98. 2000 is designed primarily for the business environment. If you're planning to upgrade I would go with WIN XP. :D

I could hack anyone's 98 or XP system in a heartbeat. They're so freakin' easy it ain't funny.

Really, you shouldn't make these kinds of comments cause I will challenge you and you will fail. You have no fucking clue what you are talking about and it shows so from even the words you used to make the above statement.

Even ALL MS machines, and their exec's are forbidden from ever installing XP. They know just how vulnerable and easy that system is.

My buddy regularly browses people's XP machines and goes through their files and emails me all kinds of wacky shit.

Windows 2000, XP and 2003 are very secure; there is no known hack to log into a machine running these OSs without knowing a user's credentials.
The users themselves leave the doors open. They e.g. keep their administrative shares open so that anyone can remotely access their drives just by attaching a dollar sign to the drive letter. If you remove these shares and - better - use a firewall to protect the NETBIOS-ports, you are safe from prying eyes.
i use windows 2003 btw., its out for almost half a year now and i am still running the original setup which i installed in April this year.

2KProfessional for sure...
Compatibility issues with newer technology, drivers, security, and functionality...ummm to sum this up:
It is 2003 & windows 98 is outdated (can function) but it is outdated.
