i've wondered that too- I imagine school recently started there- where are all those kids going to go? does the entire cities school children have to start the year over once they get settled in/rebuilt?

its just astounding- to imagine not only losing EVERYTHING you had, but not even knowing where your family might be. not having a home or a job or a car to go back to. losing all your important papers, having no post office left to pick up your mail, no place to relocate to or a permanent place to sleep. no clothes to change into, not a dime to spend or a way to get more, or even have any stores to spend it in just to get your basic needs filled.

as of right now, parishes in central and northern louisiana are allowing parents to enroll thir children in schools in the areas of their shelters. however, i have heard that gov. blanco was going to shut all schools in the state due to high gas prices and katrina. makes no sense to me, but this is just something i heard.

we have been busing our evacuees to a nearby college and high school and using their locker rooms to allow these people to bathe. you should see the mad rush when the buses roll up, but can you blame them.
