micco

New member
up until a couple weeks ago i was doing 30 min. a day on the cross triner and 30 min. on the treadmill 6 days a week and i was losing a good 2 to 3 pounds a week now that i started doing light wieght lifting the staff member at my gym said to cut back on cardio he said do wieghts three days a week and cardio the other three days a week pick one machine and do 40 min. of cardio i stopped losing wieght i've been at the same wieght for the past 2 weeks now .

i was wondering if i should go back to doing cardio 6 days a week and on the days that i do weight lifting should i do cardio also.

thankyou very much in advance

I'm no expert but if your trying to lose weight i would say do alot of cardio and just enough lifting to preserve what muscle you have already got. Ofcourse you have to have a good diet also.

One thing to note, muscle weighs more than fat so the SCALE may show you are not losing weight, and if you lift you may gain a little. It's the body fat loss that is the issue. When I lose weight, I notice it in the way clothes fit andhow I look as well as what the caliper or numerous other body fat tests tell me. My opinion is to not focus on the scale as much as BF analysis and your body composition and do both cardio and weights. However, like asked earlier, it does depend on what your goals are. Good luck man.

Your very right. The way the clothes fit is a better way to do it. The scale will drive you crazy.

Remember that your body burns more fat when there is more muscle. So muscle will actually aid in your weight loss.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Go back to your old plan.

Well first off congrats on your weight loss so far,, you are doing very well. However, considering your goal is fat loss it seems, I would not jump into weights just yet. This is only my opinion, but I think your concentration at this time should be cardio and more cardio. If this was me, I would stay doing cardio until I was about 10 lbs from your desired weight and then hit some circuit training to keep buring the fat and get toned. Good luck with whatever you decide, you are on the right path.
