Maybe to intimidate others?
Maybe to show the babes what's up?
Oh, you want to be like brad pitt because your female friend thinks he is hot?
WHY?!

Firstly, I like the feel of moving heavy iron against gravity.

That in itself isn't enough, though. I've been fat, unfit and over forty and can't let the first two take hold of me ever again. I've had a wasted and useless posterior chain and it's not acceptable.

If ever you let doubt slip into your mind about whether you want to be the man-mountain of muscle that you work to become, just brush against one of those soft, pillowy worms that pass for people around you. Assuming you don't vomit, hold that sensation. Can you imagine yourself ever wanting to be like that?

For me, it has little to do with vanity. I do it to be healthy and to feel healthy and strong.

To be completly honest I do it for:
1-because I enjoy working out and what it does to my body
2-Vanity
3-Fear of becoming average and looking like most other people( fat, skinny, and not looking old when I am 50+
4-Health

i think anyone who uses while exercising, or more arguably, works out to exhaustion more than a couple times a week and eats over 3000 cals a day, is not in this game for "health." steroids may be good and well, and i'm about to start up my first cycle, but over the long-term the health detriments (cardiovascular especially) far exceed the benefits, even with all the right supplementation. Also, eating 5000 calories a day and what not is a recipe for a relatively shorter life than your shrimpy comrades. we're like a car, adn if u ride it hard and fast it will not operate for as long. a gizillion studies agree that restricting calories is the only way to extend life. it works on every god damn lab animal (but has been not tested on humans). that fact, along with the free radical theory of cell and dna damage, would seem to suggest that the life of a bodybuilder (with or without juice actually, but worse with juice of course) would tend to lower their maximum lifespan. (it might, however, increase average life expectancy--especially if not using--because one is healthy and fit). i'd be interested to hear others thoughts on this. i am no scientist, but this is my current outlook.

i lift because i love the way it feels to lift heavy metal objects, and i like the clank of the plates. i love the pump. i love pumping up my lifting mate and having him do the same. i love endorphin-rich experience for the 1-2 hrs after where i feel on top of the world. i love flexing in the mirror. i love being able to lift refrigerators and shit like it's an empty cardboard box. i like taking my shirt off at the beach. or anywhere :). i like the feeling ephedra gives me (euphoria). i admit this lifestyle may shorten my life somewhat, but i put the benefits above the costs, and that's the bottom line!

i do it because it makes me happy. i like looking at the progress i've made and knowing that it came from hard work, and the average joe just doesnt have it. i like standing out in a crowd. and i like knowing that my woman is walking around with someone who cares about how he looks, and she is beautiful and i love looking at her, and watching other guys look at her, so i want to give her the same feeling.
