Religion is a way to explain questions about the mysteries of life, survival in a cruel environment, moral and social rules, overcoming disease and life-after-death. Religious worship is a means affect the outcome of these concerns. People who have religions often have peace of mind and feel their spirit is nourished.

When your really down, do you turn to God. Do you feel haveing a sense that their is a higher being comforts you in times of distress and pain.

I've been on the outskirts of religion all my life....but I've always had a significant other who believed deeply or been around a family member who believed.

Religion doesn't explain anything to me. It does shows me that there is no end that man will go to for control and power.

What I DO get out of religion is sense of community and 'togetherness'. The rest is .....

I suffer from panic and anxiety and I know that when I am scared and when I feel an attack coming on, I do pray to God that he will help me through this. My father is a good church going man and has always "preached" to us about God and all the things he can do for us. Unfortunately when I was younger, I brushed my father off because I didn't want to be forced to believe. Now though, I find it has given me great peace. My dad says, "Faith will move mountains, but you'd better bring a shovel." God can't save you and change you without putting yourself into it. Thanks Daddy!!:loveyou:

LiLlady1,the ironic thing is that it could be your religious
upbringing that is causing your psychological problems.
Feeling like you are "forced" to believe is bad.
