why wait till you're in the 20's?

The general consensus on this board is that people should wait until their mid 20's (when they hit their genetic max) before hitting the juice. The only real reason I've heard that sounds valid is that it stops the growth plates. But if you're happy with how your frame looks, should you juice? People continue to make natural gains after cycles so why would it be different to put some gear in between. If I start at 18 when I didnt hit my genetic max, it doesnt matter because you can still grow naturally after that since the test in a teenager is high anyway. Maybe continue growing where you left off. So the question is, is it worth waiting if you're happy with the frame you have right now (you dont care if your growth plates stop growing)?

Why would anyone not care if they have reached their genetic potential for their bone structure? That is short sighted and pretty much plain stupid. This is one of those decisions that make most people look back and go what if? Also even if someone has been training hard since they were 16 or 17 they are not a very advanced trainee and they still have lots of natural growth to achieve. There is simply no reason not to wait.

you can still get natural growth after a cycle. I admit im one of those impatient people and I like giving myself a boost at things, but that doesnt mean I dont train just as hard as everyone else and I've noticed my gains rapidly slowing.

Who the hell are you to say that it is short sighted and stupid? I starting using at a very young age, and I knew that I was stunting my growth.....but I chose to. I did not want to get taller. I am just under 5' 10'', which may be considered to be on the shorter side by some, but thats what I wanted to be.

ChrisOh's question was is it ok to juice young if you are pleased with your current height. IMO, yes it is. (obviously, this is ONLY if you are educated and know the risks). There is no difference between an educated 18 year old juicing and an educated 22 your old juicing if height is not a concern.

You would have been better off saying that YOU personally would not risk altering your height for the sake of using gear early.

Height isn't the only issue. It also stops your shorter bones from growing to their full potential. Like the bones in your wrists and ankles. So you might be tall and have these skinny weak little wrists if you start juice too young, just because you are as tall as you wanna be.

And those are not the only concerns when using AS. It disrupts normal testosterone production, the main hormone in the male body, during a time when it is essential to have precise levels of testosterone present in the body. Testosterone is key to SOOOO many functions in your body at this time in your life, don't fuck around with it.

I'm with DG on this one.

I waited untill I was 20 and I'm happy I did. A friend of mine started younger and he's hormone levels are still going up and down, he gets lank bad outbreaks and he can't control his temper. You have to be ready to go with the juice. Stunting your growth is only one of the many things that can happen. I don't think elevated levels of DHT is a good thing at a young age either. SO if you wan't to be bald and furry with small muscles go ahead :)

I am very sure you don't care

"you dont care if your growth plates stop growing"

What if only your legs stop growing and your upper body continues?

I must admit there is less change for this when you are 20 then when you are 17, but why the rush.
Why not take GH and Insulin as well?

Two things you are missing.

1) Young kids arent going to understand the ups and downs of a cycle. Alot quit lifting when they see that gains are non existant or meager.

2) A Strong base is essential. I never took anything until I was 23 and was able to deadlift 620. I still never deadlift anymore (rarely) and can still walk into a gym and do reps with 500lbs.
Starting at age 17 shows no heart or true love of bodybuilding.
Guys that are young THINK they know how to train and eat. They DONT. Its a lot of trial and error.

I couldn't disagree with this post more.

Stunting of growth plates is only one of many many issues to be considered. When you are under the age of 23, especially as young as 17 or 18, your body has not finished physically maturing. It is vital at this time not to mess with your finely balanced body chemistry.

If you do juice then use steroids such as oxandrolone (preferable)or primobolan. Avoid heavier steroids until you are 23 or at the very earliest 21.

Best of luck :)
