they turned him into a yellow frog!?!? WTF.. i guess some people like frogs

I hate dogs. So, I've got no problems with giving the dog the boot. Running over it? That's a different story. It's a waste of meat. They don't kill cows that way...anymore.

Damn. No offense but I feel bad for any kid that wasn't raised with dogs. Why do you hate dogs?

Can't people just copy the link and paste it in a new window? Tinypic.com isn't working for some reason - I'm probably doing something wrong. I try to upload and then nothing shows up.

I used to be a paperboy.

Alot of dogs on the streets that I used to deliver to.

I was about to get that dog, (white husky with blue eyes) but my buddy's parents gave me a pure bred Doberman instead. Fuggin puppy kicks ass, I love him to death.

Yup. All breeds have their perks. I am an avid Shepherd lover but I just fell inlove with this husky. She is so sweet. They named her Winter (ehhh) - lol. There's also this Shepherd puppy there with the largest paws I've seen (on a shepherd). She's cute too.

Huskies are runners. While the lack of a collar looks bad, don't assume the owners punted her. I had a husky, should have named the fucker Houdini. He broke out (as in, would go THROUGH a screened door, would squeeze THROUGH a partially open window) every chance he got. The dog in the hospital could have been tied out and pulled out of the collar (had that PITA dog do that once, too).

IP, you really gotta read Temple Grandin's book, "Animals in Translation." Seriously. I'll never own a blue-eye'd animal after that.

But, people are shits too, that's a fact as well.

I don't judge anything on a dog I've owned. Eyes, color, etc. Doesn't matter to me. My parents have owned dogs with eye colors and no issues. My shepherd is Houdini, too. Funny you say that because I had mentionted to my fmaily that I wish I would have named her that. She opens everything. Just did 30 minutes ago.. while the parents were doing yoga. Smart girls didn't even go past the rug, they know they are supposed to get their feet wiped before they can walk around.

But this dog isn't anyone's. Been in shelter care for over 3 weeks now... lots of procedures need to be done to her. There are pure breed strays in all the time. Sad, really.

One, or even half a dozen examples, are not representative of a species. I'm telling you what was told to me by people who ran a husky rescue (hindsight is 20/20). I ran into a LOT of speciality rescue people when I got into exotic rescue (long after that husky was a memory).

But a shepard is NOT a husky. Visually, very similar, mentally, HUGE difference.

Read the book or not. It's a fascinating insight into animal psychology and the impact of brain structure on animal behavior, and how animal behavior is shaped BY their brain.

So who's eating all the expense of her care? Is this a volunteer organization or a teaching hospital and students working on her?

Ugly shit happens all the time. I had a guy tell me about how he was cruising down I-95 on his motorcycle, saw a bag tossed out of truck window, pulled over, and in the bag was 3 live ferrets  That's actually one of the few stories I know that has a happy ending. Most of the animal stories I know make anything that has to do with puppies, duct tape and microwaves seem pleasant :worried:

I have read that Huskies are houdini's. I may pick that book up. The animal hospital works alongside with a couple animal shelters and dog rescues. For instance, German Shepherd rescue is one of them. They do all the surgeries, treatment, etc, that the shelters cannot do. So that's why there's an inpoor of animals. A lot of the expenses the hospital takes in or it's voluntary (meaning the vets will work and no pay). Today, one of the vets had to put down a really sick rottie who had parvo. He got it really late (usually they are pups and he's an adult) and the poor dog was suffering and the vets did everything they could but it just wasn't fair to him anymore.. I mean blood everywhere, diarrhea, vomit, etc - and he can't eat. Poor guy. He was a stray, too.

People truly are sick. Animal abusers are my worst enemy.

you know who i feel sorry for? people who have to take the bus to work. that must suck.

i love dogs btw. i own two, and hate animal abusers.

i don't, however, feel sorry for anyone that grew up without a dog.

lol. Yeah that would suck to take the bus to work. I am going to have to start using public transportation this fall because the graduate school I am going to is smack in the middle (the loop) of downtown Chicago. The easiest thing to do would be to take public transportation...

I'm not looking foward to it. LOL.

And I feel sorry for peeps who havent' owned a dog because they don't know how fun and loving of an experience it is. I'm happy that I've been with dogs since I was born. Love em' hehe

No, first they should be hurt like they hurt the animal then shot in the face

Yes IP, humans are sick! I save strays and have seen my share of abuse and torture. People who hurt animals are very powerless humans
Good on you for helping them

I agree. The world would be better off without them. Plus, you know what they say, if they abuse animals the next step is children or other adults they know.

Kudos to anyone who takes in a stray animal. They are automatically my new best friend. :)

We used to shoot feral dogs that ran deer. Hurting animals is justified in certain cases, pretty looking or no.

I understand that in certain situations animals have to be controlled and what not but I think the abuse we are talking of is ACTUAL abuse as in neglect, physical and mental harm, etc.

I'm not one for shooting any animal but I understand that in certain circumstances, population has to be controlled however, I am speaking of those who are "animal abusers."

Aren't there certain dogs that you can have that you wouldn't be allergic to? My Uncle has a small dog that never sheds because he's also allergic to dogs. I forget what kind of dog he is, though. Little white guy.

No, the Jews in Concentration camps, or the families butchered in Rawanda, or the victims of Ethnic cleansing in Kosovo, were "powerless" humans...

Just sayin'.

no. it's not necessarily the HAIR it's the Dander. While some dogs may have less Dander - I am highly allergic. Ive nevermet a dog Im not allergic to and my family has had lots and lots of dogs.

Is anyone else getting pissed off at the owned thing over iquis's and tonyroma's posts? I don't really get the whole rep thing but surely this is a little silly...

rant over.

Re: WHY

Not an animal person myself. It's hard enough to live with people. Dogs irritate the hell out of me.

I find animals easier to live with than people. They don't talk, argue, complain, bitch, moan, etc. They are always happy...

yeah - I'd choose a dog over a person anyday (to live with).

The husky is still alive. She is getting better. Just had more surgery today. Such a beauty and very smart. I wish I could take her home... *sniffle*
