why is WWF now called the WWE?

i havent watched WWF in like a year and i just turned it on just to see what happened
so why is it called WWE?

The World Wildlife Federation(WWF) had that name first and sued for rights.

IIRC, The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) sued for naming rights. They won. Now the World Wrestling Federation had to change its name to World Wrestling Entertainment, so as not to break any laws.

They had to change it over a legal settlement with the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF too). They worked out a deal years ago and it wasn't a big deal because the Wildlife group is based in England or some distant country. Things got complicated when the WWF (wrestling) put up their website www.wwf.com . So they went to court over it and the WWF had to change their name. So now they're WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). And now they're talking about changing it to WWFE (World Wrestling Federation Entertainment) which has always been their official corporate name.

Lost trademark suit with World Wildlife Foundation at the Federal Appellate court level due to possible consumer confusion between the two marks of WWF. The case is still going, although doubtful...
as the WWE has already changed it's mark.
